Simmons is a bitch who's a liability last in close game because of his FT's. And now that he's refused to play for one team what's to say he won't pull that shit again if his fragile ego gets insulted again?

The 76ers will want too much in return. Simmons isn't worth the gamble.

Simmons is a liability on the floor late in close games because of his FT shooting.

How many 3's has he attempted in his career, like five? Not much of an outside shooter.

He's already refused to play for one team. What's to say he won't pull that nonsense a second time if his fragile ego gets hurt again?

There's no question the Celtics have to do something with the roster. More low post height would be nice. But trading Jaylen for Ben won't help Boston reach that ultimate goal.
Who is out there that is better for a Cs build than Simmons. Sabonis? Miles Turner? Beal?

I like RWIII for what he is. I’m just saying a player like that shouldn’t enter into that thinking. All he will ever be is a secondary piece. Secondary pieces get swapped for fit all the time. I will give you that Simmons has holes in his game. With those holes he’s an elite player already (top 30). The only reason he is even available is because of those holes. Teams that win big take the chance on a youngster unlocking that. I think the Simmons that had people going gaga for the skill set his ROTY year is now more likely than ever to come through. If it doesn’t come out now it’s never happening and you have Tatum and a younger Draymond Green that can actually do a little more to build around. But being cucked on the national stage in which he has been over the last year is exactly what the doctor ordered for a head strong kid whose talent brought him to 25 never having been challenged on the need to add to his game. Gun to my head, I think Simmons gets a midrange game. Will never shoot the three well and will get aggressive enough when he gets paired without a dominant 5 like Embiid. And like I said, if I’m wrong, he’s Draymond Green. I don’t know of anyone who really wants their franchise to win to walk away from getting a more talented Dray at 25. Guys like that win you championships when you add scorers. They do the little things and they don’t go south if they don’t get shots.
I like Draymond... but he wasn't just a guy surrounded by shooters; rather, he was a guy surrounded by 2 or 3 Hall of Fame type players when GS won their championships.

That aside, I think the flaw in Simmons' game (shooting) shows up most when it matters the most... the playoffs. Opposing teams are better overall and they have more time to directly game-plan for it. It's the #1 reason I am pessimistic on Simmons and his future.

Brown may not be the better player in a singular comparison... but I think a good argument could be made that he is the better piece on a Championship roster... (keeping in mind that Brown is more of a third banana and Simmons is more of a 1st or 2nd banana).

I wouldn't include Shane in that. But yeah, the other 2 are definitely the "downside" of the Cavs having a good team. Can't really blame them for wanting to talk about their team....but page after page gets tedious and boring.

Hey did you hear the latest news about the Cavs?

To quote Gman (comment # 12,016)

"and is a headcase"

That's just one reason. I don't want Simmons on the Celtics.

It seems like your in for the wishin and hopin plan that the Celtics can grow that guy to partner with Tatum and Brown. Fair enough. I get that. It’s not like the Tatum or Brown asset is going to diminish over time and maybe they get lucky with a draft pick or work a shrewd trade for a young guy who can grow game.

Make no mistake... any Simmons-centered plan (by any team who takes that risk) is absolutely "wishing and hope'in" too.

Believe it or not, I'm less invested in the current dynamics of the Celtics than I am pretty sour on the idea of Ben Simmons as a centerpiece of a championship roster.

Any Lakers fans in here have any insight on that little brouhaha and issue between JWest and the FO?

It goes back 10+ years when West publicly criticized Jeanie's relationship with Phil Jackson and how she was letting him influence the franchise in ways he shouldn't given his role. The fissure started there. He then went on to work for a couple franchises the Lakers see as rivals (Warriors and Clippers) all the while continuing to trash the franchise publicly. Much of what he said, if not all of it, is very true about the franchise, especially ALL of the Buss children (they are silverspooned morons, including Jeanie). But the Lakers see it as you don't go against the family publicly. Magic critiques the franchise publicly as well, but he spins it in a way where he's not directly going at Jeanie or the Buss kids (unless its Jimmy, Magic hated Jimmy). Jerry West doesn't.

So that's where the Lakers are coming from. And why I can see how they'd be mad, they're 100% wrong for doing this. Even if you don't like what he's saying (despite it being 100% true), he's a pillar of the franchise. Let him keep the tickets, whatever else and just don't talk about him or include him in stuff publicly. But by doing this, the Lakers management just proved yet again some of the stuff Jerry West has said for years; the Buss children are clueless, immature, easily influenced, and have no idea how to run a franchise. They brought a PR crisis on themselves for no reason at all. No one would ever be talking about this had they not revoked the tickets. But the Buss kids are petty and stupid.

Totally reasonable to expect multiple firsts and 60 percent of their starting lineup
That ain't enough - Darryl Morey

Maybe he is waiting it out but the move is to do this before the deadline. For example getting that Kings package puts them as a contender THIS SEASON and going forward.

Gonna be a long night with no Garland
we won, but you were not wrong for about 44 minutes.

Goodwin has to start getting minutes over Rondo, right? At this point just seems like Rondo is no more than a name....isn't to say he cannot help the youngsters from the bench more.
