Pretty sure everyone criticized him. His shot was horrible. The only difference was that some thought he could improve and get to around 33-35% so he wasn't a liability...he has done the work and exceeded that.

Haven't seen him much since he left, is he still shooting from almost his left shoulder, or did he straighten that out?

Jaylen Brown and Tatum is getting you nowhere
It's tough to tell, what with how often they either play apart of play with only half the roster available.

Yep. He said there was no way he could improve when players start out bad shooters and put in the work to improve. Ala Kids

gotta give tons of credit to Lonzo Ball

first two years in the league he was helpless shooting wise

17-18: 30.5% from 3, 45.1% FT
18-19: 32.9% from 3, 41.7% FT

then he left LA

since then

19-20- 37.5% from 3, 56.6 % FT
20-21: 37.8% from 3, 78.1% FT
21-22: 42.1% from 3, 70.6% FT

he is shooting 42.1% from 3 and taking over 7 a game. Excellent.

This is the post i was referring to

Of course.

He isn’t a Laker anymore!

Seriously though, I was on the fence about his “improvement” during the 2020 season because of continued terrible FT shooting.

Now 3 years in a row of above average 3 point percentage paired with high 70s FT% proves his shooting gains are legit.

Just wait, THT will become the board darling once he is dealt elsewhere, just like Ball/Caruso.

Valunciunas is going to go for 32 and 22 tomorrow--- but other than that.....the Cavs should be able to pull this off.

figures Covid rules would change right when they are at the end of their covid debacle. uggh.

just get back for the Hawks/Wiz thurs/fri. Dont want to lose to those 2 teams that they are going to be competing directly against--- and without Allen, Mobley, Okoro, Cedi, Windler, Stevens, they are missing a ton of size and defense.

@Shanemansj13 @dtgold88
Might be right about JV......maybe they use Taco more if need be to stop him?

wont be surprised if Okoro can go tonight. doubt the big guys are back until at least the games you mentioned.

A bit unfair to criticize Pelinka for not being able to build without Lebron since he has not had that opportunity.

Moving players to create the opportunity to sign a free agent was a necessity, whether ultimately successful or not. I hated the release of Thomas Bryant as much or more than that Clarkson/Nance trade, since he was extremely cheap and his impact on cap space was tiny. He should've been that young floor spacing shot blocker that they STILL need. Sure, he's been injured a lot lately, but maybe that doesn't happen in a different circumstance / with a different franchise.
I'm not saying he cannot build a team without Lebron and his influence (which meant AD) only that as of now he hasn't done much that would give me much hope he could.

Is fair to say, though, his one big move that so far does not look good (Russ) also had Lebron's fingerprints on it.

Any of you know about this yet?

Magic Johnson 'not looking forward' to HBO's series on 'Showtime Lakers'

Johnson's disinterest seems to be two-fold. When initially asked about the show, Johnson immediately went into promotion mode, touting a pair of upcoming show authorized by those close to the 80's Lakers dynasty, including himself on apple tv+. The other, according to Johnson, was produced with the blessing of team owner and prez-o-dent Jeanie Buss.

Heard about the show, haven't heard anything about Magic's interest or lack thereof.

Garland in Covid Protocol.

Can my teams find out what the Bengals are doing, as they seem to have lost almost no one?

Might even be worse with Tacko in there bc JV can apparently shoot from outside too, at least he had that record-breaking night a couple weeks ago but it seems he has improved. I want Tacko playing limited minutes at best, he got torched by the C's. He is just too slow but what do you expect from a giant haha. I think Kornet should get some more minutes if none of the bigs are back...he is 7'2" and at least put a hand up, he blocked a shot the other night.

This is why I would not be in favor of the Lakers trading Westbrook for John Wall just to get rid of Westbrook. The reason is Wall's contract is just like Westbrook's so the Lakers would not be doing themselves any favors but just continuing in the present problem rather than removing it. in addition, Wall's fit isn't going to be any better than the Lakers have with Westbrook.

The better course of action would be continue to find young, defensive-minded cast-offs like the recent signing of Stanley Johnson to a 10-day contract. Right out of the box Johnson had a great game against the Spurs and played well in the Christmas day loss to the Nets. Johnson was one of the reasons the Lakers came all the way back from being 18-down in the second half to a 4 point lead by the Nets. The Jones brothers are two further examples of good cast-off affordable, defensive-minded, younger players. Jemerrio played in the Spurs game and played very well.

If the Lakers do become a player in any a number of three or four-team scenarios for Simmons, then that would be the time to move Westbrook if it benefitted the Lakers along with everyone else involved. Otherwise, it would be much better for letting Lebron work his adjustments to the "fit" issues with Westbrook and let Pelinka continue to find the right players to surround James and AD so that all these changes to the roster will eventually get to where they need to be without ruining the future player movements they may or may not make.

Was bound to happen but really sucks. Maybe this pushes the timeline of Mobley and Allen up bc they will need them. I will say having Rubio is luxury (obviously still missing Garland a ton) bc he is a great facilitator.

Garland in protocol but it sounds like Mobley and Okoro could be back tonight possibly.
