I didn't think a HOFer like himself would act that way.
If you consider Namath the first playboy QB then Terry was the first diva QB. Every off season he claimed some outside project (singing, acting) would take off and he he wouldn't be back as the Steelers' QB. One year reporters told Lambert that Terry said he wouldn't be back and Jack said 'tell him he better come back or I'll drag his ass back here'.

then you haven't been paying enough attention. but we get it, you're not a Steeler fan so no one could blame if you never noticed. But yeah, Terry has had a LONG-standing beef with not just the Steelers, but the city of Pittsburgh, in general.
I thought his main beef was with Noll because Noll was tough on him and kicked his ass to make him a 2-time SB MVP instead of holding Terry's hand, hugging him, and signing Cumbaya. At least that's what Terry said in the' A Football Life' on Noll.

It started out that way, but blossomed into a butthurt with everything "Pittsburgh" when the attitudes of many from that region changed towards him

You're right, Ben is the leader of this team.....
Bell is nothing but a wannabe, thinking he is due all this shit, deserves all this shit......

And look who you sided with, no surprise there.

Didn't side with anyone. We are better with Bell than without him. But I've also said all along that the things he's saying on social media is not helping the situation and shouldn't be handled that way.

Bell is whining about what he needs to do to get paid what he thinks he's deserved.
Ben is whining about the team planning for the unknown of when is Ben going to retire.

Both are whining and both are doing it publicly. That's the only way the situations are the same and in that way, both Bell and Ben are doing things the wrong way. Both, especially Ben, should know how to handle these sorts of things. Unfortunately, neither seem to.

I don't have a local slant on it, but I've heard a lot of Bradshaw's issues w/ PIT had to do with how it ended...idk if he was released, played out his deal and not re-signed, etc...I know he didn't feel like he left on his terms, but Montana didn't either so...grow a pair Terry!

Terry lied about the seriousness of his elbow injury to the team and Noll at the end of his career but it did abruptly end his playing days. His unhappiness with how it ended came about because his bad elbow ended it and it wasn't by his own choosing. He retired fairly suddenly after missing most of a season but I'm not sure if he had any time left on his contract. I believe he did but the bad elbow made it a moot point. I've seen interviews where he's said he wanted to keep playing but his body (elbow) gave out and he wanted a different ending to his career. You really can't blame a guy for not wanting his career to be ended by injury.

Piggybacking these posts...

Definitely started off with a whole lot of friction between Terry & Noll. In his mind Terry didn't get treated the way he wanted to. He claims to have respected the man, but never liked him. But that's bullshit when you consider that Terry was not at Chuck Noll's funeral back in 2014. Love him or hate him, doesn't matter. Terry owed a lot of his success to Chuck and should have been there. However his biggest grief, which translates more into the now, is exactly what ATL said above. A lot of it had to do with that bum elbow that he lied about.

And I don't know if it was just lip service, but remember that halftime ceremony the Steelers held at Heinz field back in 2002 during the MNF game against the colts? That was perhaps one of the greatest "welcome home" ceremonies in Pittsburgh sports history, and should have been a hatchet burial of some sort. But still to this day Terry levies criticisms against the franchise and is very vocal about it on national media.

Edited my last post... Got the Rooney funerals mixed up. Terry did not attend Art's funeral (the Chief)... But I still don't know if he was at Dan's funeral last year.

During the "A Football Life" on Noll other players said they don't understand Terry's beef. They thought Noll treated Terry with kid gloves. I don't think anyone but Terry understands his beef because no one else sees it but him.

I think part of it too is the Pittsburgh media running with Terry's dumb country bumpkin act when he first got to Pittsburgh. Which if you think about it, was all Terry's fault. He put on the act, it's not the media or fans' fault that they bought it and ran with it. Now it may be a little of our fault for never really letting it go but first impressions and lasting impressions.

I thought he skipped it cause he claimed he had a prior engagement but wanted to go. Which again may all be BS on Terry's part. How do you skip the funeral of the man directly responsible for your being in the NFL??? Dan refused to trade that 1st overall psick in '70 so they could draft Terry!

Good points. And we can't forget Noll's comment about "the game has passed him by" which lit a fire under Terry. Enough so that he called Noll a jerk on national TV.

I can't seem to find anything about Terry's presence at Dan's funeral. I know he said a lot about regretting not being at Art's funeral, but nada about Dan.

This article from the LA Times paints the picture best:

Bradshaw's Bitter Feelings Toward Steelers Run Deep
Wow, I touched on it with one of my posts. Nothing is ever Terry's fault. Start a dumb country boy persona that fans won't let go of, fans fault. Don't have a good relationship with your coach, coach's fault. Get surgery the team told you not to that fails to fix the problem, team's fault. Typical premadonna.

Thanks...I do remember the elbow and the abrupt ending.

No, you can't, but at a certain point the team always has to move on.

I guess I look at like this...in spite of how it ended...he was part of one of the greatest dynasties in all of sport. He should be one of the more beloved figures in PIT and I don't get the sense that he is.

True but that is all on Terry and not the fans. Isn't it funny that he's probably the only sports figure in Pittsburgh that's not revered and beloved??? Outside of Neil O'D and Cliff Stout of course. Hell, even Phil Kessel has become a beloved and revered figure in a very short time. What does that say about Terry?!!!

Pittsburgh has always been like this: love us and we'l love you back no questions asked. Hate us and we couldn't care less about you. Even today, if he changed his tune and loved us, we'd love him back!!! Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see Terry making that first move.

But you have done nothing but swing off of Bell's jockstrap defending him tooth and nail.
'Give him his money....blah blah blah'
Yet Ben, being the ONE thing this club needs and not Bell, expressed his displeasure and you instantly bitch about it.....

Hypocrite.

Tell us oh wise one, do we have a better chance of winning with Bell or with Ben......
17 million a year, your boy should be able to play QB, WR, and RB. 17 mil a year, he can scrub jock straps too.

I remember that, he publicly said he brought both his daughters with him because he was afraid they would boo him out of town, and felt they would never boo his two girls. Piece of shit.

When I watched that show on Bradshaw, I lost all respect for him. @FaCe-LeE-uS and I talked about this once upon a time.....if Bradshaw couldn't put his fucked up ego on hold to attend his coaches funeral, the man who made him what he was on the field, he'll be an asshole for life.

And he still is an asshole.
