It seems that, according to NBC Sports, the outfield defense is about as bad as last year:
"The Giants have made only 15 non-routine plays according to Inside Edge, ranking 28th in the majors. The problems are most glaring in the outfield, where even the routine plays get bungled often. Remember when management spent all offseason focused on fixing that issue? Well, the Giants are dead last in the majors in defensive runs saved for center fielders (negative-12), with Austin Jackson (negative-8) on pace to have a similar defensive season to Denard Span’s 2017. Gregor Blanco and Gorkys Hernandez have also rated below average. The outfield defense has not been fixed. "
So, why exactly are the Giants keeping Blanco and Jackson? Besides veteran presence, what can they do that Slater and Duggar cannot do?
