Oregon Is Faster
Just 10 years after the great season of 2007 for the Oregon Ducks, could this 2017 team be similar to that of the 2007 Oregon Ducks football team?
In 2006 Oregon finished an underwhelming 7-6 record and looking to have no hope in quarterback. Then in 2007 this guy named Chip Kelly got hired as the offensive coordinator and took over the play calling and offense of the Ducks. This resulted in one of the greatest, entertaining, and intriguing seasons of the Oregon Ducks football program.
Kelly came in and turned a disappointing Dennis Dixon quarterback into a Heisman hopeful. Oregon went into the Big House and destroyed Michigan, Oregon then cruised through the season wowing spectators. Unfortunately Dixon went down with a season ending injury to Arizona and it crumbled Oregon's national title hopes and Dixon's Heisman hopes. Without a doubt, had Dixon stayed healthy Oregon was going to the national title that year and probably capturing their first national title.
10 years later, Oregon is coming off their most disappointing season in 2+ decades. They bring in a new head coach and coaching staff. They host Nebraska (B1G team and as Michigan was in 2007 holding onto their 1990s glory) and start off 42-14 and beat them. Justin Herbert, only a Sophmore, is putting up huge numbers and very accurate. The program seems like it never left the main stream spotlight in Taggart's second game.
College football is cyclical they say, maybe Oregon's cycle is just every 10 years it repeats itself. Not too bad. Excited to see where this season goes and how it unfolds! It's looking good for the Ducks!
