Buckeye fans are the same way, if not even moreso.

Wonder what it is about that rivalry that brings out the worst in fans from both sides.

It's a lot like the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry in baseball. I hate both sides, both sides are extremely smug and arrogant, but one of them has more of a right to be.

Well, my dealings with OSU fans are limited to 2 games. Our first game with them in
Columbus and our game with them in the Sugar Bowl.

They talked shit. BUT, they talked. I can handle that. Michigan fans never speak.

I do have one thing good to say about Big10 fans. It is very easy to leave the stadium
at games end and get out of the parking lot. They're all gone by the end of the 3rd quarter.

There is a great deal of truth in that.

In person, they are just smug, rude assholes. Whipping their ass is always a pleasure.
If only their fans weren't long gone before we returned to the parking lot it would be
even better.

Notre Dame fans were pretty cool folks. They act like they've been there. Nebraska fans
were awesome people. They make you feel like you've known them all your life.
South Carolina fans are good folks. Auburn people weren't bad.

There's a difference in fans supporting their ball clubs, boasting about them and talking
shit. I can do that with all of them. Florida and Clemson are mouthy, but I imagine they
think the same about me. (rival thing). Miami fans talk a great deal, but I don't speak
Spanish so I've never known what the hell they were saying.

But Michigan folks...every damn one of them act like the world begins and ends with them.
They just ignore other fans. A total, complete, classless group of people.
Will you marry meeeee?

Maybe in real life interactions. Whenever there's talk about fan bases I typically think of fans on here and how they act on here. Partly because, well, we're on here, and mostly because this is where I have the most interaction with fans from schools across the country.

With that in mind, Michigan fans are worse by a lot.

Anyone whose top 5 at this point isn't Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State and USC, in some order or another, simply hasn't been paying attention

You mean it isn't BYU/Baylor/Rutgers/East Carolina/UMass???

Don't care about ratings, they're in my top 5. I use the eye test and am going with the 5 best defenses combined with the best trenches on both sides (thus far). USC has a couple guys on offense with some impressive speed, but their defense is atrocious, thus they don't qualify.

SC would roll both LSU and UGA's defense. Calm down buddy....

Really the only fans I've interacted with IRL are:

Kentucky- Good folks for the most part, felt right at home in Lexington
Texas A&M- I attended Johnny Manziel's last college game against Duke at the Georgia Dome. They didn't really say much.
Duke- They were at the same game, they seemed like good people, but you could tell they were far more interested in basketball than football.
Georgia Tech- I have no use for them.
Florida- All the Florida fans I once knew are now Alabama fans
Alabama- All the Alabama fans I know were once Florida fans
Clemson- As much as I hate to admit it, they are good people for the most part. I've never tailgated with any, but I know several life long Clemson fans, and they'll help you out in any way they can and I try to return the favor.
Auburn- They were unbearable during the Cam Newton year. Their pleasantness depends on how the team is doing. They can be surprisingly humble when things aren't going great, but when they're good, they'll let you know it.

Darnold would definitely pick apart our secondary. Can't speak for LSU, I've only saw them play BYU, and everyone is shutting them down.

Doesn't mean UGA doesn't have a good defense and wouldn't fare well against the rest of the country. I just think SC's offense is pretty damn good.

We have a great front 7, I feel confident that we can shut down anyone's run game, but if they can't get pressure on the QB, a good QB will pick that secondary apart. Wimbush at ND just didn't have the vision to see the open receivers, and when he did, more times than not, his throw wasn't on target. Darnold sees those receivers and makes those throws.

My top 5 least favorite fanbases, in countdown order

5. UCLA. I've known some really good UCLA fans, but also some really awful ones. They don't have the history to be mentioned in the same breath as USC in football, but UCLA fans in LA absolutely insist on it. Listen, we don't insist on being put on the same level as you guys when it comes to basketball. Return the respect please.

4. Stanford. They're so annoying. They are a really really really good academic school, but they act like the other Pac 12 California schools are a community college beneath their notice. Every California Pac 12 School is ranked in the top 25 academic schools in the country. They also seem to think that their recent, hopefully concluded winning streak against us means their football program is better.

3. Ohio State. I've never met fans who are more self-focused than Buckeyes fans. They seem to think that the College Football world stops at Ohio's borders. I've never met one who will acknowledge that there are other programs that deserve to be mentioned in the same tier as Ohio State. I also think their program is dirty, and that fans regularly see to it that Buckeye players are paid under the table.

2. Oregon. Their recent run of good teams has made them uniformly think that they've risen to the level of dominant football programs. I hate the flashy uniforms, i hate the self-important attitude. I hate the Nike blank check to their program. They could easily be #1, if it weren't for...

1. Maryland. Oh my goodness, I can't stand Maryland fans. This is the only non-football annoying fanbase on my list, but they're the worst. They think that it's clever to yell "f*** (Duke Player)" at games, they throw things, they are vulgar, and they think that Maryland has somehow risen to the level of basketball blue blood, even though they are as likely as not to miss the tournament over the past decade. I also have to deal with them quite regularly because I'm a Redskins fan. They're not quite as bad as they were when Maryland was still in the ACC, and they thought they were Duke's arch-rival (Really, Terp fans? That still shocks me) but they're still pretty awful.

Note that there are some teams that are bitter rivals of my teams that I don't really hate the fanbases. Fans of Notre Dame in football and North Carolina in basketball are generally knowledgable and willing to hate a team without being rude or violent or ugly. UNC in particular - I hate the basketball team, but I've only once ever met a UNC fan that wasn't nice and willing to talk about the Duke/UNC rivalry in productive ways. It's the most bitter yet polite and respectful rivalry I've ever been a part of.

I personally think that the AP top 5 is right. I really don't think there are any other teams that could compete for the top 5. I do think Oklahoma State should be ranked higher than 9th but they haven't really played anyone yet.

I had a lot of respect for Maryland's basketball program when they were in the ACC, but you're pretty spot on when it comes to the behavior of their fans.

Michigan fans are really not all that bad. You guys are just soured by the few bad apples here. Many at the Big House are very accommodating. The stadium just sucks and has uncomfortable bench seating.

We have an identity crisis because we have a great win %, but lack the titles that other top programs have. That's due in part to Bo's bad bowl record and/or always losing games he shouldn't in conference that keeps his teams from number 1 rankings when he does win the bowl.

But really it's hard to gauge natties before the BCS era. How many programs claim titles because of some random ass poll from back in the day.

the seats are just awesome in every other stadium.
