We have a core to build. We know what we need now we need to find the pieces and lock them in.

Our DL is in decent shape, I wanted to see a little more impact from Ray, but finding vet pass rushers is not impossible if he doesn't develop. We definitely need to get to work getting these recent draft classes up to speed.

Yeah guys like Todd Davis and Stewart may be options.... Just was startled by how little we have locked up ... In some ways we are rebuilding, it was inevitable as we went all in for Manning. It wasn't going to just be a seamless transition but thankfully Elway seems to be growing into the gm role nicely.

This is how Elway sets things up though. He only locks guys up to long-term contracts that he sees as an all-star. So guys like DT, Talib, Ward, Wolfe, Harris. Most of his other contracts are at most a 2-year type deal. So yes every couple of years we are needing to reload. Makes this whole FA thing kind of crazy.

Formula:

1) Let other teams overpay for your players.
2) Sign guys who will give a discount - early to salary cap friendly deals.
3) Reap draft picks from other teams over paying the former players.
4) Look for guys who are healthy players - looking for work who fit your scheme and sign them in FA.
5) When you overpay for an older player - he needs to command respect and be a leader.
6) Fill roster with good players cut for salary cap reasons by other teams who over paid for players 2 and 3 years ago.

Have a stud QB or a dominating defense.
