lol.

I still can't believe Calvin said "their tradition of success with small receivers" He really said that.

Did he accidentally say Oregon State and meant Nebraska and froze?
it's funny to me when people say things like this. just because they are the same people that want us to recruit to "the pipeline", that shit been gone for awhile now.

Penn State has 10 - 4 star verbals.

Michigan has 17 - 4 star verbals and a 5 star.

Ohio State has 7 - 5 star verbals and 10 - 4 star verbals.

Nebraska has 3 - 4 star verbals.

We gon get shit on for years.

MARYLAND has 7 - 4 star verbals.
then this. everyone knows the talent level within the "500 mile radius" for these other 4 schools is way greater than at Nebraska. I'm not even that big on following recruiting but it didn't take long to look up the following on 247:
PSU - 3 are from PA, 3 VA and 1 NJ.
OSU, urbs can go all over because of his success, but 4 are straight out of OH.
Mich - Harb has more to sell with how he's turned it around, the 5star is from MI as well as 6 of the four star.
MD - again proximity - 3 MD guys, 2 DC, 1 NJ, 1 VA.

Nebraska the state - 0 guys with 4*s.
Kansas the state - 0 guys with 4*s.
Iowa the state - 1 guy with 4*s.
Missouri the state - 2 guys with 4*s (McQuitty is committed, i haven't heard much on us recruiting Graves. I'm not a recruiting guy).
South Dakota - ha, only 2 guys even listed and both 2*s
North Dakota - same as SD but only 1 guy
Colorado - 2 guys with 4*s (1QB which we already have a good one and the other an OT going to CU, not sure where we were ever with him as we were after those other guys)
Wyoming - ha that's funny. same story as SD and ND.

What I'd really like to see a coach do and some people have been saying it. If you want to "Build a program", start with the 3* talent in and around Nebraska. The only reason they are 3* is because they haven't had the exposure or been coached since they were 5, sure some have, but not to the extent of your TX, FL, CA kids. There is a lot of raw talent around here that could turn into really good talent in 2-3 years in the program. That's what WI and IA are doing. then they practice balls out in a physical style and instill that mentality. Then you sprinkle in the 4* and 5* guys that you can. or find those guys that are under the radar, your Abdullah's, your guys out of position like Jean-Baptiste and Amukamara and you get them in the right place and let them show people what they can do.

we need a coach that understands that and can work to that. and then when you start winning, maybe you can then start looking at winning these recruiting battles. i'm glad our guys are in with these high level guys but i wasn't optimistic they would land many with how poor our product is on the field. you've got to get that turned around and then more people will want to come.

I agree. Start with the 3 stars who are in state......and feed them steroids and growth hormones in high school.

While I do agree in the basics of what Tom is saying we had 3 walkons starting on OL this year, 4 if you include Knevel, and it didn't work out for shit. Barry brought the Osborne blueprint to Madison but iowa just doesn't have a choice other than to take those NR guys on ship.
I wasn't ready to call it halfway through the season but after witnessing the last 5 games in a row where the team played dead I'm certain there are fatal coaching and leadership flaws that might not be fixable

That information is interesting with how it shows how many of those 4 stars are local and what not.

It really is very hard to recruit to this place.

I just think being realistic is more worthwhile than pretending like recruiting has gotten better.

I'm as optimistic as they come, but I'm done pretending like we're a QB away from this thing working.

We have so many needs and at the end of next season many of those same needs are still going to be needs.

Riley has no choice but to kill it this next year in recruiting. It needs to be one of our best years.

Our commits thus far average around 9 P5 offers apiece. Under Bo, we averaged 4. We missed on 1 legitimate guy that we thought we were going to get yesterday and it's like the world is coming to the end.

Actually it's probably not 9 right now because that was before Bradley...but that kid would be a high 3 star if it weren't for academics and he'd have quite a few more offers.

i don't think he's got the speed for a high 3-star.... more like a middling 3-star. If he had the grades earlier he probably would have offers from lower-tier FBS programs like iowa.

Ohio State and Michigan are going to continue to kick our dicks in for years to come.

And Iowa, Whisky, likely Sparty, PSU and NW will be teams that beat us more than we beat them in future as well. I wasn't able to watch any of the HS games and was just wondering how many times the NU hat was put on. Getting a page or two read, I found that the answer was none and likely to be very low at best. Riley will be gone in 2-3 years as this will continue. Problem is, then what? What high dollar coach or up and coming one wants to be in Lincoln?

also this chart illustrates our need at WR and DT. Note that this does not include current recruits that have not enrolled, so the freshmen on the list are only those already attending NU.

Could easily be USC or Oregon.
