Griffey is a no brainer. He was destroyed by injuries his whole career and STILL put up amazing numbers.

Hoffman is abut as close to a sure-thing as possible, without actually being a sure-thing. The Closer-stank is strong with this one. I think he would be on my ballot, but it is still early.

No other real, legit options in this class. No one else really deserves any real discussion, IMHO.

Griffey is the only lock on that list. Hoffman has a decent shot. The others have ZERO chance, none, nada. Especially with the voting rules allowing only 10 players per ballot. This makes it hard to get in the Hall which is as it should be.

Outside of Bonds and Clemens, and maybe Raines, all the other players everyone keeps saying need to get in I'm not that worked up about. There will always be borderline cases, and if you let them in then the border moves lower (if Rice got in why not Bagwell? etc...)

But Bonds, Clemens, and Raines should be in there.

This class will cause a lot of fights...

Pudge?
Manny?
Vlad?
Renteria? (2 WS MVPs is impressive)

Not sure anyone else deserves a debate, and all these guys have a pretty hefty dose of stank on them (Pudge, Manny and Vlad for chemicals and Rent for being really ONLY a post-season stud).

This may be the year that a lot of the left-over clutter gets let in.

I guess Biggio and Piazza should get in too. But that's it.

I thought Livan won the '97 WS MVP? Nonetheless, any argument for Renteria would be a weak one. Solid career, but nowhere near HOF worthy.

Don't disagree.

Wow, he did only win 1 WS MVP. I did not look it up, went by memory. I was 100% positive he had one before. I was 100% wrong.

The funny thing with Livan was that he was awful in that '97 World Series (5.27 ERA, 1.8 WHIP and more BBs than Ks), but managed to go 2-0. Moises Alou or Darren Daulton probably would've been the best choices for MVP.

And of course now Livan and Bumgarner have the same number of WS MVPs... :L

Amusing to see that both Chan Ho Park and Fernando Tatis are up for election in the same year. They both should get in just for that one inning. :D

Going to be a lot of great classes in the coming years for sure. Griffey probably gets in 1st ballot, guy was never accused of taking steroids which is a good thing these days.

Everybody is into the WAR stat. Alan Trammell is higher than any of them. Why should they go in before Trammell.

I agree.

And Renteria has no HOF case whatsoever. He had some nice years in ATL/STL, but outside of that, he was about average at best every other year. And he was a postseason stud? He was a career .252/.327/.339 hitter in the postseason. In an offensive era. Fine career, but come on.

Well I wonder with the weaker class next year how many first year folks from 2015, some writers will justify in their own minds can wait until next year? :L
