A mercy rule may be in use, which terminates play when one team is ahead by 10 or more runs after seven innings (6½ innings if the home team is winning). In games that are scheduled for seven innings the rule takes effect in the fifth. This rule is not used in NCAA tournament games.

Not likely, because Illinois is a #6 National Seed.

There is a SLIGHT possibility 'IF' Illinois didn't bid to host a Super Regional or their stadium doesn't meet capacity requirements.

What's with them winning by more than 1 run today ? Kinda killed the regionals mojo of one run games.

I know. CoC did not have the pitching today. Their starter had 114 pitches in the 5th inning before he was pulled Nieporte went of with a 3 run homer in the 5th. Was a fun game to watch except for the damn weather delays.
