Houston we have a problem! Looks like our sixth round pick, Bud Sasser has a heart condition that several opinions independently confirmed and have not cleared him to play. Sasser got $113 thousand and change to sign his rookie contract only come to find that his heart problem is extensive. We just spent over a 100 grand just for a guy to show up and take a physical. Damn, I think I want some of that Kroneke action! The Rams are going to cut him today. Here's the ESPN link.

St. Louis Rams to cut rookie WR Bud Sasser due to heart condition
Yeah, it tough sledging but I have now problem with this.

It's just part of the landscape. Dude was not invited to the combine and the Rams were not provided any health history to be alarmed by.

Good for the kid. I agree with TEB 100%!

realistically, what were the odds he was going to make the team anyways?

slim to none.

Gilbert last year didn't make the team either as a 6th round pick on a team that needed QB's.

sometimes you hit a home run ( Gaines ), but most of the time with late round picks, you are striking out.

Quick Progressing with Shoulder Rehab

Wide receiver Brian Quick has been working diligently to get back to full strength after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury last Oct. 26 against the Chiefs. While the wideout is still limited in what he can do on the field, head coach Jeff Fisher said on Thursday that Quick is coming along well.

“We’ll have to watch him, keep him out of contact, but he’s running routes against air,” Fisher said. “He’s catching and progressing nicely.”

It’s been a long process to rehab an injury so extensive that it surprised the wide receiver.

“That’s what really kind of got me,” Quick said. “It was pretty bad.”

But he said his mindset has been in the right place to physically recover.

“Anybody can give up and think it’s over,” he said. “I thought the opposite.”

On Thursday, he gave plenty of credit to the Rams’ head athletic trainer Reggie Scott and assistant athletic trainer Byron Cunningham for their assistance in the process.

“Byron working with me this offseason -- we came together and worked really hard,” Quick said. “When I say ‘we,’ he put a lot into it. And I definitely came in and put in the work as well.”

The wide receiver said he felt he turned a corner about two months ago, while working through some drills with Cunningham.

“They saw I was coming along a little bit further than expected, so we just went from there,” Quick said.

Now at OTAs, the wide receiver has been able to participate in some positional drills, but he’s not been cleared to do much else quite yet.

“It’s always hard, coming out here seeing these guys work, and you have to sit down and watch them,” Quick said. “You want to be out there so badly, but you have to just be patient. It’ll come.”

The wideout has to be smart with how he maneuvers his shoulder at this point, a task made easier by the trust he’s gained from the training staff. Quick said that he’s gotten hold of how his body will react to different movements he makes on the field, and how he catches balls.

So while there is still no set schedule for Quick’s full return, he said that once it happens, he’ll be primed to make an impact.

“I know that when it’s time, I’m going to be ready,” Quick said.

Just read 49ers LT Anthony Davis is retiring and will sit out a year or 2.

Don't know which thread this belongs on but man 49ers are in trouble.

Concussion worries continue to dismantle the Niners. I can't bring myself to feel sorry for them yet though...lol.

Davis is following the LB that retired early and he's giving back $4.6 million of his signing bonus which is honorable. But similar to Shopson, I will never yield to feeling sorry for the Niners.

I think its interesting to see some of these guys kind of take a stand against the game and retire so young. Seriously, forget about the 49ers for a second. This is a guy who is only 25 years old. I don't know about you guys, but at 25, if I was making millions to play a game I've loved for so long, I'm not sure I'd be able to do the same. However, maybe these concussions have effected him more than we know. If that's the case, forget everything I just said lol

Looks like what I expected is going to happen especially on the O-line. Our O-line could very well be from left-to-right: Robinson LT, Saffold LG, one of either Barnes/Jones/Rhaney at Center, Brown RG, and Havenstein RT. They are going with the two rooks on the right side because of their impressive OTAs. Reynolds, Washington, Wichmann, Donnal, Baker, and Travis Bond will be back-ups. Obviously we will probably keep 9-10 so somebody is going to get cut and others will end up on the practice squad. Our O-line has suddenly improved. Here's one of the links.

Todd Gurley, Rob Havenstein, Jamon Brown could start for St. Louis Rams - St. Louis Rams Blog - ESPN

One thing is certain.

If these guys start and play well, nobody is going to be complaining about the Rams reaching or over drafting.
