To sum it up Nebraska is 5 wins minimum and 6 maximum away from the CWS.

3 or 4 wins in Stillwater
2 wins in Super Regionals (likely Corvallis)

Our road looks tough. Not liking our chances sadly.

In fact, I think Cal St wins Stillwater. They always show up at this time of the year and catch fire.

Let's back it down on the Cal St Fullerton historical hype. They have not been the same since George Horton and Dave Serrano left. They haven't been to a super regional since 2010.

The real concern is the Nebraska team. Not trying to take credit away from what they have accomplished this year but every time they get on a role this year they then lay an egg. Like the Iowa series, Northwestern series, Big 10 title game. If they can stay out of their own way then they can win.

Oklahoma St is no lock either. They've had some questionable losses as well and didn't win their tournament either. The did sweep K. State, but Nebraska redeemed itself (14-5) in the last game of that series.

Wichita St (down this year) played all 3.

(1-1) vs Oklahoma St
(0-1) vs Nebraska
(1-2) vs Fullerton

As Jed pointed out, it's the bad teams Nebraska plays that I worry about. The Huskers are a 46 win team (instead of 40) and hosting a regional if they take everyone seriously this past season.

(1-2) vs Citadel
(1-1) vs Northern Colorado
(1-2) vs Iowa
(1-2) vs K. State
(1-2) vs Northwestern

There are half of their losses right there.

I remember all the haters on here at the beginning of the year. They probably still are haters. And the Huskers although making it to the postseason again is good, still haven't accomplished anything. Advance to a Super Regional and that will be a major step for the program.

Who were the haters?

Getting 40 wins and a regional is a first for the Erstad era. I consider it an accomplishment. It was my expectation for a 3rd year coach and I'm good with it.

It's not necessarily "getting to the postseason again", it's getting 'BACK' to the postseason. The season was a success and anything on top of it is icing on the cake IMO.

There is obviously more work to do, but there should be some momentum in the program coming off of this season regardless of what happens in Stillwater.

My concern is that the Huskers are going to see better pitching than they saw throughout the Big 10 regular season. Are they up to the task is the question?
Indiana seemed to do fine with that obstacle last year in the postseason on their way to the CWS.

There's a fine mix of small ball and just letting the players hit. When they've been in trouble and Erstad took the reins off and just let them hit, they've overcome some nice deficits.

Game still tied 0-0 after 3. Huskers have gotten some base runners but nothing for substantial threats to do much.
