First time in forever a Gopher was picked in the 1st round!

I am usually not big on picking guys with less production but possible higher potential but this guy was just too hard to pass up. The Broncos already have two very good run stuffers in Knighton and Williams so just thought Hageman offers a different skill set. Plus the guy has only played the position a few years so I just think he has the chance with some good coaching to become a major disrupter up the middle.

Plus he was the only guy I had left on my list of top 5 players I would like to see the Broncos get. Dennard, Pryor, Ealy, and Kyle Van Noy were the 4 others that I was hoping might drop to the Broncos.

I think he has the ability to take over at times, but he falls into periods where he seems disinterested. With the right coaching he could be an All Pro many times...

That's pretty much the way I saw him. I saw him more than once take on a double or triple team and just shove them straight back into the quarterback. Or decide to split them with his speed. Pretty much he has the physical make up to do whatever he wants when he wants. Like you said though the problem lies in him not always wanting to put that much effort forward. I figured though with the Broncos having already two very good DT's this would give Hageman the chance to develop some and not be expected to be a starter day one. This also allows when he is in for him to not be winded but use his full energy when called upon.

I would think also getting into an NFL training program should help with him staying more energized and focused throughout the game. Plus the coaches teaching him how to use his energy more wisely than just run at the guy as fast and as hard as you can and see what happens.

Good pick...we really liked Hageman...we thought his 1st season might not be that productive for the 15th slot...I think most kids like him probably faced a comparable opposing talent maybe 3 or 4 games a year...easy to develop some bad habits...I think he'll be a solid impact player by year 2.

Hageman is a good pick. It was a tossup between Truitt or Hageman when I picked at #20. I would had settle for either one had I been able to move down.

The owners meetings arent until March 23rd... I guess we can wait...

Or it would be kind of neat to see how team picks change before and after FA or even the combine. I guess it depends on how much time everyone has....
