Saw an interesting article where the author did a re-order of the 2014 NBA draft based on current performance. Results were pretty interesting:
1. Andrew Wiggins, Timberwolves: Originally drafted #1. Drafts most capable scorer and is now starting to play defense.
2. Elfrid Payton, Magic: Originally drafted #10. Triple-double threat and the drafts best setup man.
3. Jabari Parker, Bucks: Originally drafted #3. Gets an incomplete due to his knee injury.
4. Julius Randle, Lakers: Originally drafted #7. Closest of the 2014 bigs to averaging a double-double.
5. Marcus Smart, Celtics: Originally drafted #6. Hard nosed player. May have had breakout game with 26 vs. OKC.
6. Jordan Clarkson, Lakers: Originally drafted #46. Re-drafts largest chart climber has shown proficiency with and without the ball.
7. Rodney Hood, Jazz: Originally drafted #23. Starting to understand the NBA after moving into starting lineup.
8. Gary Harris, Nuggets: Originally drafted #19. Starting to come on as scoring contributor.
9. Zach Lavine, Timberwolves: Originally drafted #13. Has become a good contributor off the bench.
10. Aaron Gordon, Magic: Originally drafted #4. Starting to gain traction with rebounding and defense as 6th man.
11. T.J. Warren, Suns: Originally drafted #14. Dependable scorer as 6th man.
12. Jusuf Nurkic, Nuggets: Originally drafted #16. Showed some scoring and shot blocking as a rookie. Currently out with knee injury.
13. Clint Capela, Rockets: Originally drafted #25. Has become a more than adequate sub when Dwight is out.
14. Doug McDermott, Bulls: Originally drafted #11. Great college shooter having trouble on stacked Bulls roster. Maybe a matter of time before he starts putting up Kyle Korver numbers.
Notable dropouts with original draft position: Embiid (3), Dante Exum (5), Nik Stauskas (8), Noah Vonleh (9) and Dario Saric (12).
