News1130 Sports @News1130Sports now NHL announces 2014 Heritage Classic. March 2 at BC Place. Canucks host Senators. Will the roof be open?
Nothing says heritage classic like playing hockey in a retractable roof stadium
At least the ice has a better chance of being decent - The game itself is usually not entertaining because the ice is slow and players are hesitant.
Do these outdoor games rate well on TV? I watched the first couple but quickly lost interest. Like Dash said the shitty ice usually results in poor play.
I hear the ice is generally pretty good at another place in Vancouver that time of year.
I always forget the name though. Rogers-something.
I think the whole appeal of these outdoor games was that they were unique events. By having multiple outdoor games, it's going to lose its appeal. I personally would only have 1 outdoor event per year and it would be the All-Star game.
Yes, they're typically the highest rated game of the regular season. It's really about the uniqueness of the event more than anything, or at least that used to be the case before they saturated the schedule with outdoor games. We'll see how it works out, I personally think they should only have 1 outdoor game per year and that 1 outdoor game should be the All-Star game.
the whole appeal is $
but to be fair (deported), in terms of fan appeal, it needs to be looked at in terms of 2 markets ... canada and US ... you can put dogs playing hockey on the cbc in canada and people will still watch
in the US, imo, the outdoor games have become locally appealing events that dont really resonate on the national stage anymore ... in other words ... just another game ... BUT ... double the HRR
Which is exactly why the players go along with these shenanigans. It helps up their share, even if it's not by a ton.
and theyll go along with the canadian "outdoor" games (currency value not withstanding) because it will probably mean triple the HRR
they were speculating on the radio that with 55000 seats, Canucks ownership will SURELY offer reduced price seats to welcome fans that have been priced out of regular season games
that was a kneeslapper
They can spare 2 seats out of 55,000 to discount them, right?
yah i guess they could ... level 4 highest row in the stadium could probably be priced for $50 ... WHAT A DEAL!!!!

yah i guess they could ... level 4 highest row in the stadium could probably be priced for $50* ... WHAT A DEAL!!!!
