How are the Devils not 8th? I mean, we have the same amount of points as Buffalo and Dallas but LESS wins.

The first tie breaker (after fewer games played which seems irrelevant) is Regulation + OT wins. This means Buffalo's 7 SO wins don't count for the standings. In this case, Buffalo only has 14 ROW plus 7 SO wins. Devils have 17 ROW plus 2 SO wins. So Buffalo won more games, but they relied on the SO.

Oh, thanks. Another thing that sucks is that Buffalo won the season series against us. They should change those tie breakers.

I think they just added the ROW thing within the last 2 years if not this season actually. They did it so that you couldn't get into the playoffs relying on SO wins.

just read the profile of that sean monahan? a leader? draft him! we need someone that can fucking lead

would also just add to the depth of center on this team and making someone an option to trade. zajac anyone?

He's also good in the faceoff circle apparently, something we desperately lack.

it doesnt matter though because the devils will win the lotto and draft seth jones. which i dont know is the right thing for this team to do.

just like patrick ewing goin to the knicks. you will see. the nhl wants this kid who jay z is after to play in a major market. not florida! or god forbid another country when they move to the QC

In theory, if we drafted Jones it makes some of our other D prospects expendable. I'll keep coming back to it, but Edmonton needs D, especially after Ryan Whitney leaves this offseason. I don't think they could pass up a package of say Urbom, A-Train, a pick or 2 and maybe somebody like JJ.

More Centers?

What about a winger that can skate(fast) and score(sniper, slap shooter, bomber)???

of course, if we get the #1, I'll take Seth Jones OR trade it to someone with a package of young scorers... but most likely keep it for Seth.

This draft seems deep with centers. And the devils do lack a legit #1 play maker. Heck some of these centers I've been reading can score like stamkos not just a play maker like thorton

I gotta be honest I prefer the North Americans as well. If for nothing else I feel like they're game transitions a little easier to the NHL. With Europeans you have to hope they can adjust to the smaller rinks and getting knocked on their ass for the first time. A shocking amount of them can't.

I think our problem is we're letting our opinions on non NA players be a bit skewed because we're still waiting on JJ and Teds, late first rounders. Keep in mind that Landeskog was Swedish.

I like European players, but I like North American players better. Landeskog benefited from playing Jrs in North America. I know it's a sweeping generalization, but Europeans are softer players. We could use some size and toughness on this team.
