2013 coaching rankings

Ok, so Athlon did it again. They ranked the 125 college football coaches. And guess who stayed at #9? Yep, "THAT GUY"!!! The guy that supposedly had a Heisman contender last year, ended up only playing 2 ranked teams, and only went 7-6 in a yet again bad conference, and he kept the same ranking. At the risk of getting to another long debate where I smack around a "certain" fan base, I will simply say it is a joke.

Other notable changes in the rankings that leave me scratching my head.
Some others:
Les Miles goes from 4 to 24
Bill Snyder goes from 11 to 3
Brian Kelly goes from 18 to 4
Bobby Petrino goes all the way to 8
Pat Fitzgerald goes from 42 to 12
Art Briles goes from 41 to 13
David Shaw goes from 32 to still only 20
Kirk Ferentz goes from 33 to 60
Bo basically state the same from 37 to 35

One bad year doesn't detract from doing more with less talent than a lot of programs year after year. Just sayin.

If they went by the actual coach and not the program, there is no way in hell Brian Kelly could be ranked ahead of Pat Fitzgerald. What Fitz is doing at NW is nothing short of miraculous. Imagine him at Georgia or Clemson with the recruits they get.

I have to agree with this. Fitz is a hell of a coach

What's wrong with where Pelini is ranked?

Richt was 14 last year and now 11. Seems close to spot on to me.

I agree!!! Fitz is one of the best!! Just think, they ranked him in the 40s last year!!

Frank Beamer's inability to be proactive in his staff management proves he is not deserving of that ranking. VT was just plain BAD last season and it's Beamers fault.

He is just now realizing VT's offense is stale and needs a change.

Better late than never, but great coaches are ahead of the curve and Frank missed the boat. He was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with their plain jane attack when his personnel screams out for a fast paced spread offense.

They're not gonna get that offense going in one year, but he's finally got them going in the right direction.

the write up on Cawl is slightly confusing by way of the last sentence
