Well the answer to my OP question really ended up being the coaching as the difference, but there didn't appear to be a talent gap in FSU's favor at all.

Payton, Brown, Tomlinson, Sanders..... Doesn't matter who you are when the defender is already wrapping you up as you get the ball...

If he's lucky Taggart will be an intern at Alabama next season.

Does it still sting? Hell, we've beat you two times since then as well. You should be used to it by now.

Congratulations on your continued irrelevance.

FSU's O-line really sucked, as did a lot of the playing-calling. I forgot how sweet Francois's arm was. FSU kept sticking with their long-developing non-traditional run plays, when they needed to let Francois drop back and pass with an extra RB/TE blocking. The Defense was fine. VT's inexperienced youngsters played better than expected. They may have something going this season.

Florida St's performance reminded me of Northwestern 24, Oklahoma 0 back in 1997. Northwestern didn't do a whole lot on offense. OU allowed a blocked punt TD, OU's offense was non-existent, and they were quarterbacked by......Justin Fuente. Fuente was wise to transfer to Murray St after that season. John Blake (12-22) was the coach of OU at the time. He couldn't coach himself out of a paper bag to save his own ass. Those were dark times.

So does Taggart leverage a 7-5 season at FSU for the Texas job?

Jimbo lost his first game against a ranked opponent too, but this didn't feel the same at all. It's likely gonna be a long season for FSU. Looking over their schedule, 6 or 7 losses appears possible.

- I honestly couldn't tell if FSU's defense was at least competent or if VT's offense just isn't good. But, that appeared to be the bright spot of an otherwise dark night.

Are you telling me Florida has more offense than Miami and Florida State now? This is some odd fuckery.

We purposely chose not to score TDs on those trips starting in FSU territory because we didn't want to embarrass Willie too much in his first game. We're classy like that

If we can stop Akers we'll have a shot. If we can't, which considering all new LBs, missing a DT where we were already weak, we'll take one on the chin pretty bad. Unfortunately I'm leaning toward the later.

Akers had 82 yards on 14 carries. 85 yards came on one play. Yep. You read that right. Without the one run, he's in negative yardage. Mission accomplished

No, that's playing low end competition vs real D1 competition.
