20 Games in 20 Days

Notsofunfact: Today is the first of 20-straight games without a day off for the Dodgers.

The best the Dodgers have done in a 20-game-20-day stretch in the last five years is 11-9.


June 12 - July 1, 2015: 10-10


July 29 - Aug. 17, 2014: 11-9


May 24 - June 12, 2013: 9-11


May 25 - June 13, 2012: 10-10


June 19 - July 8, 2012: 5-15


April 8-27, 2011: 10-10

It's not going to be a fun stretch:

at Blue Jays
Mets
Cardinals
Angels
at Angels (I'll be at the game on the 19th!)
at Padres
Reds

Thankfully most most of these games are happening in Southern California. Still, this stretch won't be fun for the veterans like Utley, Crawford, and Ellis, or the guys who've had offseason injuries/surgeries like Turner, Grandal, and Puig.

I don't even want to think about the pressure this kind of stretch puts on a rotation with the second-best pitcher being a guy who isn't used to pitching on 4-days rest and a bullpen that has been bipolar.

It sure doesn't feel like it, but the worst the Dodgers can do over this stretch is .500. They are 10 and 9 through 19 games, and tonight are hoping to sweep the Reds for a 4th win in a row.
