what a deal you guys are getting

right now Dalton's looking like an upgrade so you're basically trading nothing for those two first round picks.

Chris Mortensen reported that the contigency on the 2nd pick is whether the Raiders win a playoff game. If they win a playoff game THIS year, it's a 1st rounder, if they don't, it's a 2nd rounder.

As it stands right now, it is a fleece.

But I think that holds contingent on how Carson plays. This is a win for us no matter what, but could also be a win for the Raiders.

We win no matter what, that's the best part.

Yes, I wish it were performance based, but it's success based.

Still a damn good deal any way you slice it. The mere fact we got one premium draft pick for Palmer is amazing, let alone two. Whether it be 2 firsts or a first and second

It was rumored Carson was going to be traded next year for a 2nd and a 4th. To be getting at worst a 1st and a 2nd? Or at best two 1st round picks is something that has never happened to the Bengals ever. Bengals have never been big on trades. Can't believe the Bengals are actually looking like their front office somewhat functions.

Yeah it's a win for us no matter what because he was never going to help us in any other way than to bring us draft picks. If before the season started you told me someone would give us a 1st and a 2nd for him I would have called you bat shit crazy.

And just think, if he would have bailed and traded Palmer in the offseason like everyone wanted..we would have been lucky to get a 2nd and maybe some mop up pick like a 4th or 5th.

So maybe Mike Brown lucked into this, but looking like a f'n genious right now. If he didn't make the entire league think he is so f'n stubborn, the Raiders would have never offered that, and Palmer would have been gone long ago.

Mike Brown is looking like a f'n genious right now.

Apparently the only reason Mike budged was because Hue Jackson has/had a close relationship with the Bengals.

The stars aligned for this to happen.

This makes for a nice story, but honestly I don't think it mattered who it was when two high value picks came into play. Also, once the CBA changed and made 1st rounders more affordable, I think the draft became MB's best friend!

Don't forget we passed up on 2 potentials firsts for Chad.

Good point about the CBA though. I wouldn't be surprised if that played a role as well this time around.

That's an important factor, but if I had to credit the change of heart to one thing in particular I'd say Dalton's play...

he didn't play well for a rookie on Sunday... He played well by any standard
