When the Broncos traded up I just kept saying to myself "please be Shane Ray or Malcom Brown." After we picked Shane Ray and I cheered for joy all I kept saying to myself was "please somebody draft Malcom Brown before he falls right into the laps of the Patriots." All that to say this was a great pick in my opinion. I had the guy as 20th on my board as he brings both the ability to stop the run but also a bit of a pass rush. He isn't quite Wilfork against the run but he is the guy you can leave in for all 3 downs.

Understanding the grades the so-called experts give on teams picks are subjective but someone gave you guys a D+.

Appreciate all the teams ahead of the Pats passing on a high quality guy like Brown.

Well Shane Ray is a very polarizing player. Talent wise he was considered by most to be top-10 talent. You throw in the off the field issues though and yeah he is a huge risk. I have seen people give the Broncos high praise (no pun intended) and I have seen some thinking this was a huge mistake.

I like the pick a lot. I love what Vince has brought to the Pats throughout his career (he belongs in Canton, IMO), but he hasn't been the same player for the last few seasons. In his phone interview last night, he also said something to the effect that he's going to be the best draft pick the Patriots ever had. Now I don't think anyone will ever eclipse Brady for that title, but you have to love the confidence.

National reaction: Patriots’ pick of Longhorns’ Malcom Brown the ‘best value selection in Round 1′.

According to the Dallas Morning News.

Great pick. Now if we can get a stud OL and a CB I'll be a happy boy. Anything else is gravy. Lost of Pats fans are looking for a WR. I think the group they have now is plenty especially with the addition of Chandleor. Man I loved that pick up from the Bills. Go Pats big day today. Lots of picks. Could get very exciting for Pats fans. All kinds of options.

Agreed. But I still like Dorial Green-Beckham. If he is available late 2nd to 3rd.

I like him in the 3rd if he's still there. Don't want to see the Pats needing to give up picks to move up and get him unless everyone the Pats like are already off the board.

Rated the 3rd best in the class by Athalon behind Leonard Williams and Danny Shelton.

He's married and has two children. He understands responsibility.

He will "Do His Job". Has the potential to be one of the best in the NFL. He'll be coached by the best now.

Outstanding pick that is a surprise to be available at #32.

Patriots have three picks today. #63, #96 and #97. Rumors are already out there that Bill will trade #64 and #96 to move up into the mid 40s in round 2.

BK, who do you speculate they would move up for?

Well SD, I think BB would move up to get either AJ Cann or Josue Mayias, both are Guards, but I personally like Matias' size more than Cann's.

What about Storks old teammate Tre Jackson? Is he more of a 3rd or 4th?

saw about 10 minutes of this guy play, looked good to me.... and as people mentioned he is Vince Wilfork Jr. He appears to have heart and the nose for the football. Wonder if the Pats will take a WR

We have 3 picks today. There are some very good WR's still available. I think a bunch of them will be gone by 64 though. I think 64 is reserved for an O-lineman.
