I wouldn't mind him in a Pens jersey.

Actually, David Perron had elected to go to salary arbitration as well, but signed a new four year contract with St. Louis last night...

is there a list of players that are going to team elected arbitration and if so is Mason Raymond the only one on it?

Probably the best route to take there. These aren't just about salary, it generally makes the players unhappy. The future of the Preds is in jeopardy partially because of this process with Weber.

Haven't come across such a list as of yet, but if I do, I'll throw it in here...

ive heard mixed news this week that Weber was a bit miffed at what the Preds had to say about him last year during arbitration ... David Poile should have just gone into that hearing and said ... "ok ... what are we paying him?"

If my memory serves, I thought they said some pretty nice things, but still offered less. Didn't make sense to me, so it could be wrong.

Since Weber didn't file for salary arbitration, he can receive an offer sheet (wink wink nudge nudge)

botchford has been on the case since July 4

an offer sheet would be matched by the Preds but it would then mean that they couldnt trade him for a year and would end up getting nothing for him if he left next July 1

talk about forcing someones hand

more like forcing a franchise into near extinction

if you get him can you sign him right away to an extension or wait until July 1

Of course, any Weber discussion wouldn’t be complete without mention of an offer sheet.

As a restricted free agent, if he were signed to a one-year, predatory offer sheet in the $6,268,175-$7,835,219 range, the compensation would be two first-round picks, a second and third.

Would the Predators match? Probably, but then they couldn’t trade him for a year, and next July they’d be in the exact same situation they just were with Suter.

And can Poile risk getting hit again with another jackhammer?

Botchford said this week on twitter the team that gets him on an offer sheet can sign him to a long term deal right away

and weber would probably want to sign long term with the right team because the "cap circumvention" type contracts are probably going bye bye in the new cba

That actually doesn't sound to bad if you're a young contender like the Hawks/Pens/Flyers. Those picks would go more into depth since they're core is still in their mid-20s.

there was talk about eberle being offered to the preds in a package for weber

And here I was thinking that 50% of the houses in Kelowna were owned by Albertans (err that probably explains why Albertans are hated there).

/Just trying to support the Kelowna economy
