Somewhat related: During Sunday's Mets-Phillies game, the radio broadcasters mentioned that if the Mets could close out the eight inning with no more runs allowed (they were already trailing 7-0), they would finish the season with a team ERA just a shade under 5.00.

Only one other season in their history has the team ERA been over 5 at the end of a year: 1962.

Needless to say, they let in 4 more runs and blew it. So this year is the Second-Worst season EVER in team history in terms of final team ERA, after their inaugural, 120-loss season.

That's how bad it was. Spare me any non-existent pity.

Wow. That is crazy. Particularly given how super-duper-awesome their pitching staff was touted to be preseason.

It might have been marginally better at least, if Syndergaard and Familia could have pitched a whole year...but EVERYONE got lit up. Even deGrom got pounded.

I can imagine that the FO will sweep everyone out, including pitching coach Dan Warthen, who has been with the team for 9 years. Full rebuild mode: engage

I just bet all my vCash on a game and if I win, I do it again, and if I win that, I do it again, and so on. It got up to around 10k once and DJ thought I was awesome. Yep. Yep, I am. Really awesome.

That's what I do when starting over from zero. Bet the 200 auto-replenish on a longshot; if you win you're back up to 6 or 7 hundy, and if you lose, you're right back to 200 when the next auto-replenish kicks in.

If you win, put that 600-700 on another longshot
