Nope. The Beltran trade made sense. It didn’t work out, but that is 20/20 hindsight analysis.

Agreed, Beltran was still a certified difference maker at the time.

Respectfully disagree. The trade for Beltran was done AFTER Posey got injured, we were behind by several games IIRC, and it smacked of desperation.

It came in 2011, after we won the WS, of course, and people were caught up in the hype. Were willing to do anything to try to keep winning.

The team was playing great and absolutely had the postseason in sight. Unfortunately, once China Doll showed up, all the bats in the lineup went to sleep. He was there to carry them the rest of the way.
