If we are going to be unrealistic, drop leagues altogether and have everyone play different schedules every year based on the previous season's standings.
Alabama should have been eliminated before their second loss with their schedule. As it is, the sport needs rules that compel stronger scheduling and let teams know what it takes overcome more losses like a two loss team jumping a one loss team. So far, the committee has picked four P5 teams...
If they are going to format a playoff that maintains the two class system then the odds are less. That said im thinking of a top 8 format determined by actual rules where everyone basically controls their destiny excluding highly improbable circumstances. While i dont think my idea would be...
It may not but clearly more teams getting more opportunities has a better chance of making the overall sport more competitive than the status quo. Im not convinced lower divisions tell us the same would happen with FBS. Also. it is not just about who ultimately wins. How many different schools...
South Alabama doesnt need to become Alabama over the long haul for any possible format to have huge impact on parity. That said, you just never know how many different programs will improve their brand under an expanded playoff format compared to where they are now.
Agreed. I wonder if a larger playoff and rules rather than voting could impact scheduling and recruiting in a positive way if the goal is to promote greater parity. Who knows what so many schools particularly G5 teams could do with a system where they control their destiny?
Just curious, how many people want college football to be more competitive than it is? Do we like a handful of teams winning every year? Do we think a larger playoff will help or hurt parity?
Weak scheduling will continue so long as there are no rules in place to compel stronger scheduling which won't happen because it is all about 7+ home games.
Okay. I don't disagree with that. That said, I'm only coming at this from the fairest competition format. Of course, I get that money is why it will never happen but even without guaranteeing equal home games, it still helps G5 teams to know approximately what it takes as a matter of rule to...
If, for example, we go from one format where P5 teams play 7 home games and G5 teams play five to one where all FBS teams play six home games, of course that will benefit G5 teams more than P5 teams. The difference is that P5 teams are losing an unfair advantage and G5 teams are gaining an...
