no one predicted the Cavs to be on a 70 win pace like they are right now.
If they get to 65 wins I think they will be ecstatic. That would be 17 losses. 47 games left. 65 wins would mean going something like 34-13 the rest of the way to get to 65 wins- which would def. not be easy.
you...
Butler is declining anyway- he is 35 and has as much miles as anyone in the league not named LeBron on his odometer- he misses a lot of time every year. He steps up in the playoffs- but for Jimmy it always seems like its been about him for his entire career.
Mobley still isnt shooting many threes- less than 2 a game--- but is at 43.5% from 3. If down the road that guy can reliably shoot a 3 he becomes a PROBLEM. He is already one of the best defensive players in the league, can play unselfishly, can score when they need it.
Atkinson is doing...
pretty awesome.
the thing this team needs to learn more than anything else is toughness- its what has gotten them in past years- the grit that it takes to win in the playoffs. They are confident and playing awesome right now and Garland and Mobley are getting better. I hope Allen steps up and...
glad OKC got the win- if the Cavs can force a Knicks/Celtics matchup it would be nice.
Not saying the Cavs would walk to the conference finals even without playing those 2- they surely wont- but it would be nice if they only had to play one of them, and had home court
the Jimmy Butler era in Miami was always going to end this way--- him acting like malcontent- forcing their hand to try and trade him. Apparently he is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to trade.
Which teams could actually trade for him?
Butler asking to be traded and the Heat now listening to...
Oh i agree- thats what i was saying- i was just reading a thing on The Athletic where a guy had a Top 5 tier- and I agree with you Memphis is not there yet.
yah there is no all time great team in their way which is helpful.
I think it depends on the Celtics and how hungry they are and how healthy they stay. That is really really good team.
I also think the Knicks are a little interesting- they seem to be putting it together- Brunson, Towns...
its possible....especially coming out of the West they might only get one tough series until the Finals....they do rely on a lot of young guys, and young teams dont win the title too often. I think they will eventually get there, but young teams rarely win an NBA finals. Curry was what? 28...
GSW could land a big fish with Kuminga- but that obviously hurts them long term. I dont think Kuminga is a #1 build around type talent- but he could (COULD) be something like a low-level 2 or a high level #3......
I was going to say #2- but not sure if Kuminga ever gets to the point of being a...
I agree....I dont think Memphis is good enough to be in that top tier- at least not yet.
3 of the top 4 in the East makes it tough- I still think the Celtics are/should be hte consensus favorite.
what high level wings are on the market? if any?
a ton of teams could trade for Butler or Ingram if they wanted to
and a good team like the Thunder could trade for high level wing- but would also be giving up some of their core that makes them a good team in the first place.
best wings...
Heat next year:
Butler- 52M player option (prob will not pick up)
Robinson- 20M player option (prob will pick up)
Bam: 37M
Herro- 31M
Rozier- 27M
Highsmith- 6M
Ware- 5M
Love 4M
Jovic- 4M
then there are club options or restricted options on:
Jaquez- 4M
Johnson- 2M
Christopher - 2M
Smith - 2M...
I generally agree with this- but the issue is that LeBron does not have a lot of time left. It does not look like the Lakers have nearly enough to win this year by just developing the young guys.
It makes it a tough choice- stay the course or go and get an old expensive guy to try and win with...
no one is trading all star level wings....its so hard to get on the open market.....
I do think that gives Butler value to the Heat since every single team is basically always hunting for a all star swing guy besides like the Celtics. So hard to get done.
Donovan Mitchell at 31.5 minutes a night. Last 2 seasons with the Cavs he was over 35 minutes a game
SGA 34.4
Jokic 36.9
Tatum 36.4
Brunson 34.9
Cavs are getting it done and their best guys are not even playing big minutes. True team- depth- even though the full roster has not yet been...
if you did not expect a Lakers win tonight- when the Lakers were waiting for the Cavs- coming off a back to back from GSW - not sure when it would happen.
Darius Garland was fantastic in that game. He did not shoot that well, but he was constantly breaking down the defense and beating guys off...

Saying this since LeBron spent time in Cleveland and we talked a lot about what he needed to win. But you would think by year seven, Rob Pelinka would know what works best
3PM by year:

Hard to fathom.

The Cavs were in the Finals in 2017-18.
LeBron left. They bottomed out. The cupboard was BARE as it could be after trading just about everything not nailed down.
They sucked for 3 years. Drafted Garland 5th, Mobley 3rd, and Okoro 6th. The only very strong draft was the Mobley draft. The...
