I lay on an operating table getting my fucking leg cut off in April with the goal of returning to the course and breaking 80 at least once this year. Shot 80 twice before coming up lame and unable to play. Bogeyed 18 both times. Fuck.

Played for the first time in August yesterday and the long and short of it is that I blistered the front with a +1 36. Then went bogey, bogey, double and then stepped up on 13 and pumped one OB.....FUCK! One over on the front and I'm re-loading after going 6 over. Did manage to make a par to save the double bogey.

Ok, so I'll cut to the chase. I was playing yesterday with my two best buds Phil & Dave who are bother good players. On 18, I was on the front fringe in 2 with a nasty 50 footer that had to go across the green and then up a steep ridge and then another 15ft to the pin. I usually never do but I couldn't help myself and I totaled the card.

Sweet, I'm 7 over so I can three tap this fucker and I've got my 79. All I have to do is make sure it gets on the upper level. I was so psyched that I made the smoothest long swing and rapped it really good.....it drifted up the slope and stopped 8 inches from the cup 78!!! Fist pump, high fives, yada yada.

So I get back to my car and look at the card again. LOL! I fucked up and was 8 over and not 7 over on that putt. I needed the two putt and didn't know it!

If I had known that, I would have left it 10ft short and shot another damn 80. Phil shot 80 and Dave shot 82.

So anyway, apologies for the separate thread but if you told me on April 9th that this summer I'd break 80 and be medalist over Phil & Dave, I'd have said cut me doc! The best part is that my knee feels fine this morning.

Congrats Homer. Nothing like breaking 80! Mind you I’ve done it only a couple times back when I was single and played 3 times a week. Wife 3 kids now I get out on most Sunday mornings and scramble my ass off for an 84.

Thanks man.

The other cool thing is that it's Club Championship weekend and the tee had been closed so we were following the first flight. Afterward, the bar was filled with all the best players in the club so that was great. Our club scrolls scores on the screen and there were at least 5 or 6 guys right around par from the tips.

Congrats man, I love a good golf story by us regular guys. Ive broken 80 just twice in my life. A 79,and a 78. On the 78 I started my round birdie, birdie, birdie. I could barely hold the club the rest of the way, but hung on for glory!
