I wonder what happened to Duval. until this year he was a pretty good hitter, at least till the all star break.
Duvall is worth 1 HR a week and 3-4 RBI. Over a whole season, it's about 24-30 dingers and 75-95 RBI. Most players can accomplish that if they get enough at-bats. I think he was just trying too hard.

Duvall brings good defense and power to the table. But he didn't help his marketability by being abysmal off the bench for Atlanta.

He's arbitration eligible and his salary would be largely based on what he did in Cincinnat. With analytic cost dominating baseball his arbitration salary may be more than teams value him at.

If Atlanta let's him go there will be teams interested in Adam Duvall. But most likely a minor league deal with a spring invite and incentives if he makes the roster.

There were a lot of players that fell into that type of signing strategy last year.

Billy Hamilton has signed with the Royals for $5.2M. Seems like a team that loss 104 games could find better things to spend their money on.

The Reds didn't get better by non-tendering Hamilton. Until they actually get a net gain in CF there's always the possibilty they'll end up with an overall downgrade.

I agree with the Reds non-tendering BH as a starting point, but until the rest of the plan comes to some sort of positive fruition it's done no more than free up some payroll.

Hamilton will be OK in a DH league, hitting 8th or 9th. If he hits .220, it's better than what a pitcher can deliver. All the same, not a major upgrade for KC. Not sure what they need at this point.

The Reds, OTOH, can stay with in-house options in CF, but they could have done that last year and stopped pretending BH was really going to matter as the team went down the drain. I still think they will do that this year and push Trammell along faster.

They aren't 'getting the pitching' and they won't. Bob C. has no idea what that means. He's a rich owner who just thinks the league runs on spare money. Not evil, but hardly helpful.

Still comes back to Scooter, who will likely sign some kind of club-friendly deal.

Senzel? Not till June anyhow.

The Reds always seem set on prospects playing at least one full season of AAA. That may have Trammel ready in their minds by mid 2020.

Dunno if the new regime will go that way but Trammell probably needs a year in AAA.
All I have read/heard is that he's the real deal, though still quite young.

Taylor Trammell gets high marks from scouts with the exception of his arm. He's performed well as he's progressed through the system. He sounds comparable to Reggie Sanders.

Most of the trade rumors are just that.... rumors. But I grimace every time I hear one that involves trading top prospects like Trammell. This team is too far from serious contention to be trading top 100 prospects, especially when it would mean no more than playing .500 ball before sinking back into the abyss.

We might have some deluded opinions on the merits of a CF's arm. I recall some of them who could barely hit the cutoff man. But if they hit the cutoff man, that's great. Hamilton prospered because he was able to play shallow.

We won't likely see another like him but we're a half-decade into saying, who cares?
