So are we renting Swearinger? I know the contract is structured to get out after this year, but I still see a ton of mocks that have us taking safety.

If he falls to us you can't pass him up

Agree with country. If Hooker somehow ends up still on the board when we pick we better sprint to take him. Swearinger isnt good enough to keep us from adding a safety like him.

But not just Hooker. Draft countdown has us taking Jones and Walter has us taking Evans.

Its actually been mocked in a lot of places. Not saying itll definitely happens but I wouldnt be shocked.

at 49? Does that mean Mixon or Karama go higher?

This is the first Ive seen of Cook at 49, but I have seen plenty of talk about him in the 2nd. Mixon I think could be anywhere from the 2nd to UDFA though if I had to bet Im guessing at least one team is willing to take a shot on him. Kamara seemed to be getting first round hype a couple months ago but I havent heard much since. Im not a huge fan.

True. I think its kind of a lack of confidence in Swearinger too. He'll help but he probably is just a short term patch up. Plus you never know how Cravens will really work out and end up spending most of his time.

If he falls out of the first round that would be a shock.

A ton of Mocks have us taking a safety because the thought is we have no choice but to go defense. The odds are there wont be a D-line worthy of the 17th pick. The ILB and OLB guys that will be on the board most likely all are questionable at 17 as well unless some one like Foster slips, or you really believe in Reddick. So by process of elimination, the most valuable defensive pick on the board at 17 is likely to be a safety.

Rumors are saying Foster slips. He might be there at 17

And if he is there at 17, you dont even hesitate. Again he is one of the 5 defensive players I would take over Cook and not even blink. Hooker is another, Garrett of course.

I agree but there are reports that Foster could need a 2nd shoulder surgery.

Citing "multiple league sources," CBS Sports reports that Alabama LB Reuben Foster's Draft stock is falling.

The reigning Butkus Award winner was in Indianapolis last week for medical rechecks after undergoing surgery on his rotator cuff in February (and getting sent home from the NFL Combine due to an argument with a hospital worker). Unfortunately, according to ESPN, some teams aren't satisfied about the state of his shoulder. It has been suggested that Foster may need a second surgery, though Foster's agent Malki Kawa said his client is "ahead of schedule" and "will be ready for training camp." Either way, an NFL.com poll published this week also found that evaluators predict Foster is most likely to slide on Draft Day. Stay tuned.
