Not a huge deal - what bothers me most about it is - he's 29 years old, and this was a Spring Break event. It's kinda sad that he hasn't grown up. Just going to it at his age is worse than getting into a minor fight, imo. And to top it off, he runs away to try to not get caught. Dude... well, at least he didn't tear a tendon.

If i didnt know any better Ruz, I would think you were suggesting that there is a certain age where just cutting loose, having fun and chasing a little tail is no longer acceptable. I know guys in there 60's who still go to Black Bike Week every year. And that gents if you have never gone is a drunken orgy loosely disguised as a motorcycling event.

I dont fault him for being there, I do fault him for once again getting into a fight as he knows there have been issues with this in the past. And running from the police, while it might be instinct, is never a good idea.

As for those that say OLB wasnt in play at 17 until this happened.... the only positions not in play for this team at 17 are K and P, because there isnt a spot on the team where we can say we are 100% rock solid as far as starters and depth for at least the next 3 years.

I don't think that the talent at olb matches the value at the 17 pick. IF the two ILb's are gone the pick must be a RB. Even if LF, DC, and CM are off the board I would take Mixon over any of these OLB's or DE's for that matter. The only other defensive player would be Hooker if he falls but that is doubtful. I like Baker but it seems like he is more late first early 2nd.

Unless we trade back in the 2nd and he is still there, Im not touching Mixon before pick 75 at the earliest. Some character issues can be over looked.... his cant. Not at 17 in any case.

We had this discussion before you wont take him first round but you would take him 2nd round. lol. if the character issue is a issue then he is off your board completely. If you are drafting on talent he should be the pick at 17. Always can get a good defensive player in the 2nd.

Its been rumored that some teams have Mixon off the board completely. These are probably the teams who have studs at RB. We are not one of these teams. So Mixon should be on our board.

I said I might take him in the 2nd, depending on who else was there. The character issue for me says you dont drop a first rounder on a guy that you even remotely think might have an off field problem that would take him away for an extended period of time.

As for your Stud RB theory... how many of those are in the NFL right now?? I would say 22 of the 32 teams DONT have a stud RB, and I would say that more teams are concerned with his character than they are with his ability to be a stud RB. Guys who have previously been popped for drugs are likely less of a character concern than Mixon at the moment. Ray Rice was dead wrong, I think Mixon was a bit worse.

SO the more I think about it, you are right... I wouldnt draft him at all before the end of the 3rd.

There is a huge bust rate for 1st and 2nd round picks so I would roll the dice and take the chance. Lawrence Phillips went top 10 with huge character concerns. I think its a huge mistake to pass on him either first or 2nd round. If CM and DC are there at 17 I can see that but that is about it.

And again, if this were 20 years ago, your line of thinking might be acceptable. But simply put you cant burn a first round pick on a guy who basically confronted a woman, and when she decided to go after him, he cold cocked her. Sorry but there is no sugar coating what went down, she is sitting there with her friends, he says something and she stands up to swing at him. Its not like this was some one he had any type of relationship with prior to that night. So if her story holds even the slightest hint of truth, at best he is a knucklehead, at worst he is a guy who feels he can do what ever he wants with women and is willing to be confrontational if he doesnt get his way.

Either way you dont commit 4 years to some one with that sitting on them... not in the first round, and probably not even in the 2nd round. Just a little too much off field risk for me.

I was listening to The Junkies this AM, and they said it was a Spring Break thing - for college kids. The feeling was that when you're near 30, yer a bit out of place partying with teenagers.

Again.. perception vs reality. IM 40 minutes outside of Daytona, and spring break ends up being 90% age group from 18-30 both sexes. Being there, not a big issue.. his actions.... Issue.

Thank you shark. As a 60 year old I am glad I didn't roll over and die at age 30. I might need a nap but I am not dead and not going to roll over and ask to go into the old folks home. :D

Its all good as long as you dont pull a Will Farrell from Old School. Streaking shall be reserved for those under that age of 25, and preferably confined to the subset known as Beach Body perfect, and optimally female.

Am I speaking the same language as you 2? Not being able to party with teenagers means you're dying? Oh well, carry on. But don't watch "Logan's Run".

Nah, I think we just have a different idea of who or what is age appropriate for Spring Break. Now sure a single 60 year old hanging out at a Kegger on the beach.... a bit over the top. But a 29 year old at a place where the average age of people being there is 18-30ish..... Not so much a shouldnt he have grown up moment its being painted to be.

?? This was a concert at a baseball stadium. I see nothing wrong w/ a 29 year old attending this type of event. Now as far as his actions or any fighting - that may be an issue to a degree - we just have to get all of the facts first on this one. I think that he has to realize - fair or not - he has to keep himself out of situations where he will be perceived to be in the wrong - not always easy to do but probably necessary in his case.

So being "in play" means the same thing as using the 1st pick to select an OLB? In what universe?
