Some have been bashing this pick up, but read this...

DT Stacy McGee, Washington
Grade: B

Washington will help replace Baker up front by adding the 27-year-old McGee, who stole a starting job up front in Oakland from free-agent addition Dan Williams and was the Raiders' best interior lineman over the past couple of seasons. The Raiders allowed 3.9 yards per carry with McGee on the field over the past two years and 4.5 yards per attempt with him on the bench or unavailable. Injuries are the big concern, as McGee missed five games in 2014 and started nine games last season. As his role expands, McGee will need to stay on the field to live up to his five-year deal worth up to $25 million. If he can, Washington is likely to be happy with its 310-pound addition.

I have a feeling this DL is being created to stop the run.

What wait.. we are actually going to try and stop the run?? That would be amazing,

I'd respectfully reply that we've seen how these type of signings "usually" turn out.
does anyone have the numbers on either of these guys QB pressures?
Comparing them to Baker who played DE and NT, i'm not impressed or rather i should say i would have expected a better route.

At the risk of sounding like a smartass.... We are actually building the line to stop Zeke, or at least try to slow him down. Pass rush is going to have to come from the OLB position. We got run over like a deer in headlihhts entirely too much.

I was only half joking with this post. If we can manage to NOT give up 5th worst rushing yards and TDs in the league... that would go a very long way towards improving this defense.

No, i get it, but from what i've heard both of these guys are going to get 5 mil per.
I thought Hood was a solid rotational, along with RJF. I would have loved to see an above average/elite DE/NT get signed for 9mil/per, instead of 2 guys who won't make it through a season.

UNless we do the retarded and draft a QB at 17, I only see one of these guys starting. Especially if we sign Logan.

Logan would start at NT, McGhee or McClain will start at one DE spot, and we SHOULD be drafting a rookie at 17 to play the other DE spot.

RJF (if he isnt cut) Hood (if he is resigned) and a couple of others as rotational and depth.

I know its broken record, but until we settle the QB issue, I cant commit to us using the #17 on a D-lineman.

Like other discussions we've had. Literally STUCK, until we know whats what with the QB.

The article shows the difference McGee made to the Oakland line when in and out of the line up. The Raiders gave up only 3.9YPC with McGee and 4.5 with him out. It also called him Oakland best interior lineman over the last couple of seasons.

I know Baker was a fan favorite; however, I don't remember him being very good against the run and he was frequently pushed back. McGee may not get home often but it seems he gets good push which helps out people like Khalil Mack or a Ryan Kerrigan.

Once you look at the contacts they are front loaded with easy outs for the team
