wtf?

One source close to the situation said Kupchak and Jeanie Buss had not spoken since Nov. 1, despite her role as president of basketball operations and the power that gave her to fire Kupchak, and that her brother had resorted to communicating with his sister only through lawyers. The same source said Jeanie never was informed of a potential DeMarcus Cousins trade over the weekend and described a chaotic scene in which Jim Buss insisted low-level basketball officials “vote” on the proposed deal while Jeanie and Magic were left in the dark.

this sounds like some Cleveland Browns type shit right here....

Oh, it's worse. Apparently, Jeanie was not kept in the loop when Mike Brown and Byron Scott were hired either. If I remember what I heard driving home correctly, she also wasn't informed of the Deng and Mozgov deals.

Basically, it seems like Jim has spent the past 4 years begging to be fired. It's unfortunate that Jim took Mitch down with him, but it looks like Mitch backed the wrong horse in this one anyway.

Got after it with the Dodgers? He was never intended to be anything more than a frontman for the Guggenheim Group.
I doubt that Johnson has anything to say in those decisions, but considering that the Dodgers had no farm system and would take something like five years to develop a good one, I am well pleased with what the Dodgers have done. It's a 180 degree U turn from missing the playoffs every year for 20 years straight

What sealed Mitch's fate is when he passed last week on Cousins. Sacramento wanted Ingram and Mitch said no which sent Cousins to the other team

@WiggyRuss - The way I read that one article is that Jim Buss hired lawyers to represent his interest when it became painfully clear he was going to be fired, but Jeannie clearly had the authority and it was a slam dunk. In addition Mitch made to many errors to continue.

I am not totally convinced that the new front office with Magic will make better decisions, but I hope they do and clearly a huge change had to be made for the Lakers to keep their fans interested.

I was hoping more for the pick anyhow. can take or leave Corey Brewer...
The Lakers took Cory to force a tank for that top three protected pick again - the question is with the Rockets in 2nd place, will there draft pick be worth anything

I don't think that had anything to do with the changes. I believe this has been in the works for quite awhile.

I suppose it could be worse with the Lakers former coach Phil Jackson being installed

I never heard any reports saying Phil was interested in coming back to the Lakers.
