We let Brian Mitchell go for Deion, Chris Clemons, Rich Gannon.
Ok...semantics.We don't really disagree though. I want both back. I am just not willing to destroy the cap for it. I am all for making fake contracts and giving more guaranteed money. The crux for me is 8 mil for DJ and 6 for PG. I prefer guaranteeing salaries more than giving signing bonuses.

You're not going to get PG for 6. I can tell you that now.
It doesn't destroy it in the short term; but it can destroy it in the long term.
If you sign KC now and give him 40 million guaranteed in the first two years of salary, and he fails, you really haven't set the team back because of his salary. The team is set back because he isn't the guy. So he isn't the guy, now what? We draft another rookie QB and by the time KC's guaranteed portion is done, our rookie QB is in year 2 of his rookie contract and KC is not noticed at that point.
Now, if KC proves he is the man, instead of paying him 20 mil/ season, we now have to pay him 25 mil per season. That is 25 million we could have spent on other players improving this team while we have a proven QB wrapped up over a five year period.
This was me in June. You can call BS all you want but the facts are simple.
ONce again I call Bullshit. We are set to have $60 million in 2017, $96M in 2018, and $126M in 2019...
We are not the 2007 Cowboys. With cap roll over, penny pinching does not apply. Now I agree you dont Over pay. But your idea of over paying is anything close to market value.
BUt I will ask again, give me two realistic replacements for Garcon and Jackson that will save us cap space AND not require us to once again ignore the defense in the draft... Im all ears.
Just fess up... you are a payroll account in real life arent you??
You are far too worried about filling average production with bloated salaries. Again, PG and DJ are our 3rd and 4th options in the passing game.
What do we do when Long and Moses come due? How about JC? These are young guys we will want to resign.
You would like to tie up..
25 million on KC
12 mil on DJ
9 mil on PG
9 mil on Reed
14 million on Trent
That is 70 million there. Then we have to retain other players in the coming years on offense. How exactly do we improve the defense without any cap room?
trent is already accounted for. Reed is already accounted for. So that dog dont hunt. We could give Kirk the exact same deal as Luck and his cap numbers become
$18M in 2017
$19M in 2018
$24M in 2019
$27M in 2020
$28M in 2021
$21M in 2022
That would make him the richest QB in league history if we bumped that by $5ook a year... and I seriously doubt he would balk.
Jackson wont get $12m a year average from us or any one else. Garcon MIGHT get $10m a year average... but the reality is, we are NOT in a situation where we cant afford either. And you have not even remotely come up with a replacement for either. You want to scream they are 3rd and 4th option. But when we need a 1st down, where do we go?? PG. And when we need to go deep where do we go?? DJ.
So you give me a realistic replacement for both, that will cost less and NOT require us to ignore the defense in the draft... again IM all ears.![]()
Nope but I have a business degree.
That explains it. You are looking at it from a what costs the least aspect.
IM looking at it from a whats best for improving the team going forward standpoint. And letting either or both walk with no realistic replacement is not whats best for the team irrespective of the couple million we might save against the cap.
The salary cap numbers totally hunt. They are accounted for and they account to what the numbers I put are. PG is put in position for 1sts...DJ is a great deep threat and that is why you pay him more. JC and JR can easily be the go to guys for a first.
So what when Moses, Long, and JC come due for a contract extension? Or do you think DJ and PG will. E happy with one year deals?
No...you are looking at from a short term perspective.
So you call me out earlier for a salary statement made early in the KC discussion...I show you what I said in June...nothing.
I ask you what we do when Long, Moses, and JC come due...nothing.
Again dude... Moses isnt due until 2018 where we have currently $96m in cap space.. .cut that in half... thats still $47m in cap space. There are currently 3 teams over the cap for 2017.
Dallas
The Jets
The Chiefs
The Colts paid Luck a fuckton and STILL have $45m in cap space. The cap monster dies once the Romo deal ends.
NY dropped $128m in cash this year and has $28m in cap space
The Cap monster is dead bro...
