Would have been better, and more fresh had they just finished this last season. Even not knowing exactly who it was, some of the emotion wasn't there. It's been talked about too long for it to be fresh still. They fucked up. But it was still good.

Side note - Chris Hardwick. I want to punch him in the face. Does he strike anyone else as a yuppie douche bag? Maybe it's just me and how guys who "mess their hair up on purpose to look cool" annoy me. That and he keeps talking about feelings. It's a show. Nobody needs to talk through their feelings after watching it. It's a story. You either like it or you didn't. Feelings. And wind blown dude cuts. Bah!

Like so many other episodes of the most recent seasons, I found myself watching last night but thinking about doing something else. For whatever reason, my viewership has taken on an obligatory feel.

Sure. I knew people would disagree. Fair enough. But from Hitchcock -------> Tarantino, there's MORE 'feeling' with your imagination than with it being shown to you. The shower scene from Psycho -------> the ear scene in Reservoir Dogs.

But we live in a 'Saw' universe now, so more is more. (now I sound like a 'get off my lawn! old guy)

At any rate, I don't think stuff like that should be banned, or anything. Just voicing my opinion. You can have Neegan be as hated by making 3 or 4 frame cuts, leaving the sound in. The emotional impact is the same or even greater.

The chase for realism will always have limits. We can see a character go off in the woods to do their business, and grok what's happening, without needing a closeup of the shit coming out of their asshole, or see the rash that they get in 1080p after using tree leaves to wipe.

Mostly I agree with you but in this case seeing Keegan's savagery in all it's horror was very effective. In case people couldn't quite understand why Rick broke down and gave in fully.

Ok, remember here I'm basically a newly to the show. Loved the first episode last night. The question I have is in regards to Rick flashing back when he was on top of the RV. It showed all of his group being hit at least once. Did this happen?? Because the guy with the Mullet hair looked busted up. The cute girl - Rosita had blood on her face but the kid had nothing. I'm assuming Rick was just imagining what might happen

I am not a gore guy at all. But they HAD to show this. The image of Glenn with his eye popping out was too iconic from the books to not show here. I think if they went with the minimalist take, it just would have been a huge cock-tease.

I posted a longish write-up of this at about the time of the finale last year. Killing Rick definitely does not make sense for Negan here. He needs a puppet, and he now has one.

Episode was great. I have zero complaints.

The Glenn death was perfect. It ABSOLUTELY needed to be as true to the comics as possible, and it was.
