Saban is losing control of the team...

Not really but that's what they say about Sumlin every time we have a QB transfer

You also had a mass exodus. This is just one player.

Did you happen to read my Power 5 rankings? I rated A&M the 2nd best SEC team before the season started and still think that's the case. I'd love to discuss A&M this year with you as I love that defense they are putting on the field.

Apparently, there may be some west coast JuCo's that do semesters where he can get 3 of them in before next year and then possibly transfer to another school and be eligible next year.

If that's the case, then it's not as dumb to transfer now. Still - 1 snap away from being the guy.

I don't honestly understand why a 5 star QB signs with Bama. 5 star anything else I totally get but when was the last time Saban and Bama developed an elite QB? Plus their system isn't really a QB friendly one. Seems like a lot of better options for a QB. That may be the only position in the field where guys could do a lot better service to themselves by going somewhere else lol

AJ McCarron.

We aren't a pass happy team, so that's deceiving, but if you don't think AJ was elite, you are confused.

Umm what?

We went to the playoffs with a RB converted into a QB just 2 years ago. If that's not doing a hell of a job with the position then I don't know what is.

And have you watched Alabama play at all this year?

McCarron was very good but when I say elite I mean NFL starter. The NFL is littered with Bama guys starting at every position except for QB and it's not because they don't get elite HS talent at that position. I sometimes feel like Saban almost has a disdain for the QB position when I hear him talk

I was joking.

We lose 1-2 QBs every year. last December was rough but every time one transfers out we get the same thing.

Do you think we recruit a bunch of 5 star QB's?

I think AJ could start at numerous teams in the NFL.

But you're talking about 32 teams, so how many colleges have numerous starting QB's? Is there any college that has more than 1 QB as starter?

That's a function of the rest of the team being elite. Sims was serviceable but I wouldn't even classify him as good. McCarron and McElroy are the 2 best guys you've had under Saban and neither of them is NFL starting material. I'm not debating the talent at the position, I'm saying there are better schools in CFB for 5 star QBS to go to than Alabama if their goal is to be a NFL player. Nearly every other position on the field the reverse is true.

I think Saban confirmed it without confirming it.

Said Blake came to see him today with concerns about his future. Then said he didn't know anything more than that so he couldn't comment on it, but added "You may know more about it than I do".

Basically said best wishes to him.

You're being fooled by small sample sizes.

If you're a top player, you totally want to play with Lane Kiffin's big head, a consistent stock of NFL RBs and a consistently above average oline.

Greg McElroy was a 3 star QB.
McCarron was a 4 star QB.
Sims was a RB/Ath
Coker was a 3 star transfer from FSU.

So basically, Alabama put the only 4 star QB of the group in the NFL for a few years now, and another 3 star in for a couple.

I'm sure you want to if you want to win but if your goal is to be developed into a NFL QB then all saying is there are better options at THAT position. Jesus people get their panties in a wad anytime you say anything about Alabama and this isn't even a bad thing. The FACT is that in Saban entire coaching career he doesn't do much with QBS. JaMarcus Russell was the number 1 puck as a function of his size and arm talent ( neither of which he learned in Saban system ) and then he flamed out huge. That's the only guy I can think of on a Saban coached team that was a can't miss NFL guy at QB and then he missed anyway

I'm not attacking you, but I think he AJ is the best QB Saban has produced. Laugh all you want.

We do not have an offense that relays on a QB, so we typically don't get the highly recruited ones. No RB's and defense are vastly different. Right now Alabama has Ingram, Yeldon, Lacy, and Henry as RB's, with Richardson still looking for work.

Just different philosophies, but I think Jalen may end up being the most talented QB Saban has had, but the question is if he can lead as good as AJ, which was probably AJ's best attribute. The S.O.B. is a leader.

What you don't seem to grasp is that Alabama isn't bringing in the elite talent at the position to start with.

Btw - what schools do you think are better options for being developed and who are the pro QB's that are a result of those schools?

For sure. That said if you ask any 5 star HS QB what their end goal is I can promise you all of them are going to say NFL. Bama wins titles without 5 star guys at that position and Saban, despite being the best coach in CFB, does not now nor has he ever developed an elite QB at the next level or even just an OK one. Can he take a guy and make him serviceable enough to win a natty when he's surrounded by NFL talent at other positions? Yes. That's not what I was saying. If you are a 5 star out of HS there are better choices for you than Bama to get NFL ready. If you don't care about that then God bless you. Go win a title.
