Every team in league has holes and every team in league has positions they feel really good about. You can still win without a great defense just like you can still win without a great offense. It's when you suck at both a team falls off the map. Take Dallas... great offense.. they fell apart last year when they lost key players and then they're overhyped defense couldn't sustain squat. WE all know Romo is going down again this year and fragile Dez will too. Is anyone really worried about them... not me. We have a solid defense and we have a solid offense... not great but solid. if one falters the other should keep us in games. I feel good about where we are and Im stoked about Cousins as I always have been. He has incredible presence in the pocket... almost Brady-esk,, yea I said it.

So with Norman on the best WR's we face and a healthy (fingers crossed) Galette we are formidably better with just those two additions. Cousins moves the offense and with another year of getting comfortable I am pumped up that we can have a great season. Can I get a HTTR!!

I will not blame the booze I have consumed for my homerism... won't do it.

Because you are only as strong as you weakest link. If teams can beat us by only throwing the ball 15-20 times a game, grind it out against us on the run, and burn up the clock, it doesn't matter if we have great CBs or OLBs. They won't be tested because they won't need to be tested. Oh, and by controlling the time of possession, it also has a negative effect on our offense.

So, in short, until we can prove we can stop the run, especially on 1st down, I don't see how one can speculate that our defense will be better. Aspects of our defense should have improved, but we still having a potential for a fatal flaw which could have a negative effect on all other aspects of our team. This is why I'm not ready to buy in to the belief our defense should be better.

This is a passing league. Very few teams run the ball and control time of possession. Hopefully we are ahead in these games so we force the opponent to pass. Pot Roast and Hatcher did nothing for us against the run last year. With an improved pass rush and CB play we should be able to get more turnovers which should equate to points. Talent level alone is better than last year. Now we just have to prove it.

True but both those Super Bowl teams had great defenses. SO the offenses did not have to do much.

thanks you made my point we dont have a great defense so we must be sure our qb is good and can stand on his own some regardless of what i think

i think KC will be a good qb for us but time will tell

I think our defense is going to be better than people think. I also think KC is the guy.

well you think it but until its shown on the field it doesnt matter . every year our defense is supposed to be improved and so far it hasnt that is demonstrated on the field and not a gut feeling

True but this year has so much more talent than last year. Im excited about our pass rushers and CB's. I think we will be able to force a lot of turnovers.

oh cmon, we didn't have Norman, Galette and we didn't know how Smith was going to develop. Are you saying the defense hasn't upgraded?

i am saying we have a d/line full of rotational players and that may or may not work . i am saying we have not one safety who has been a regular starter at safety for any amount of real time

bruton career ST player duke is the malcolm kelly of safeties hall is 32 blackmon is 32 cravens is a 2nd round draft pick ( in a passing league hehe , having proven safeties would be a plus ) our ILBs are pedestrian and slow . so perhaps we will be better . instead of 28th we could be 20 whoopty do

Dean, no one is saying that we haven't upgraded our CBs or our OLBs. I'm also excited to see them in action this year. My concern is that Offenses can avoid them due to the potential for them to be able to run the ball down our throats. You say its a passing league, and for the most part, that is true. But if you are an OC playing against the Redskins, would you design a game plan that challenged the CBs and OLBs or would you focus on abusing the pedestrian DL and ILBs? OCs will attack our weakest link. Do you realize that last year, offenses averaged close to 5 yards a carry against our defense on 1st down. While pot roast and Hatcher weren't pulling their own weight and are gone, who did we replace them with that will stop teams from controlling our defense right up the middle?

that is why the pass rushers and CB's make the most money. I feel they are more important to a defense then run stuffers.

Cravens is a 2nd rd pick - so what? Preston Smith was a 2nd rd pick, Reed was a 3rd rd pick & Cousins a 4th rd pick. I think that you guys may be underestimating Cravens & his impact. We cannot say how he will work out, but quite a few experts are predicting good things for this guy & his skills go beyond his measureables. We may look back on this draft & view him as the best player of the group - kind of like Smith.
