Redskins selected Temple DE Matt Ioannidis with the No. 152 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.

Ioannidis (6'4/299) was a three-year starter for the Owls, tallying 29 career tackles for loss with 10 sacks and seven batted passes. He earned first-team All-American Athletic Conference as a senior. Ioannidis tested out as an average athlete, but he wins with brute power and toughness and is never on the ground. Whether it be at five or one technique, Ioannidis is an old-school, two-gap player with a fairly safe floor.

Check to see how many of these guys are team Captains. I know a few are and SM likes team captains.

1 technique is a NT. Saw coach say he couldn't play nose. :trash:

Yes I like the pick a lot. I watched this kid play a fair amount the last two years. He is cock strong and little on the mean side in a good way.

1 through 5 technique means he can play DE, DT, NT. Shark, I think you will like this guy.

he was lining up over the center in his highlight film on espn. He is going to make the team.

0 tech lines up straight on the center. My point was someone that knows next to nothing about this guy says he can't do something ... the comment was BS.

Reading his NFL.com write up, he sounds like a NT. They say he is at his best when eating up two gaps.

In his interview he said he could play nose but played other spots too. Versatile, a common trait for Scot players.

Barry runs a one gap system. Every guy DL and LB has a gap they are responsible for. We did not play that well in the 1st half of the season. Got better with Compton and Foster but just got our thingamajigs handed to us against Green Bay.

I am a fan of Matt Rhule the Temple HC. Ex-Penn State player. He doesn't get the same level of player there and if you saw their facilities you would know why. He can coach up the D though. Would love to see him get the Penn State job in a couple of years.

I actually agree. Problem remains.. we got a bunch of good rotational/backup D-lineman.... and aside from Baker.. no real starters.
