AMC is a shit show.

Now the audio(I didn't listen) to Negans entrance and speech has leaked.

And they think they can keep who dies as a cliffhanger a secret? Morons, every last one of them.

There's gotta be some good stuff goin' on in an hour and a half, tho...maybe they will surprise us...:hope:

I just listened. I counted at least 8 Lucille's to the head. Definitely going to be a scene that one won't soon forget.

The finale appears to be fucking awesome. Until the drop the ball at the very end.

Meh, it's a season finale, cliffhanger's are almost expected.
This is pretty much my stance. Cliffhangers are the norm today (and the past 30 years or so - ever since JR). This show has even been pretty big on the cliffhanger...

S1 - Not so much, but they did not know if it was going to be a mini-series or an actual series at that point.
S2 - Quick flash of Michone and they show the prison in the back ground.
S3 - The Gov gets away with Martinez and Shumpert
S4 - They are captured by the Termites
S5 - Morgan walking in on Rick killing Pete
S6 - Lucile goes crazy

This is the single most iconic even of the entire show. They will milk it for all it is worth.

But that's the point. This isn't a cliff hanger moment for 7 months. The moment is built off the intensity of the now(I've read comics now). It's built off the sheer brutality. Not doing it now spoils the death as it will be leaked every where the moment filming starts. It makes season 6 a complete waste as it built for 1 moment and they had such little confidence they had to use it to build for S7. Waiting months lessens the emotional intensity.

All Gimple knows is cliff hanger fake outs. The awful mid season finale did the same. Glenn's death. Daryls death etc...

Those are normal tv fake outs.

For example. Prison Breaks epic first season ends with "Run". But the whole build up of that season was resolved. We saw the key moment.

LOST s3 was the same thing with the "we have to go back".

Cliffhangers are meant to tease a new storyline as one has ended. Give you something to come back. Not completely cut off a death scene.

BB with the episode before Ozymandias did something like this with the intense standoff then seeing the conclusion later......but we waited 1 week.

It's not a cliff hanger if it completely ruins the emotion of a scene.

I agree with this as well.

But I think you are missing the point, a bit.

The Walking Dead does not exist to tell a compelling story. It is not here to have a great moment. It is here to make money. The good story-telling is the means to the end. But they will gladly sacrifice story in order to max the dollar. If they give the payoff now, it will be appropriate from a story-telling POV, but not from a financial POV.

But the thing I don't see is how it wouldn't work to show it? It would be a true cliffhanger. Generate insane buzz(all positive from a intensity standpoint, maybe not if people's character dies) and leave people wanting more.

A cliff hanger would be Negan bashing on *insert character*. We see its that character getting brutally murdered. It ends with "ta ta". Cut to black.

Now we know whose dead. But the cliffhanger is still there with the aftermath and seeing everyone reactions and impact on the characters.

Again, from a story-telling POV, I agree 100%. I feel that ending the episode/season at the end of the interaction is an effective cliffhanger. Clearly, shit is now real. War has officially begun, and Rick and company just had their nuts chopped off right in front of them (although, the 60 deaths to 1 death scorecard diminishes this fact in the show).

But if they do the cliffhanger as expected (not revealing who dies), they will get 7 months worth of internet discussion and fan theories.

I suspect we actually agree with each other 98%.

I just believe that studio execs will take the easy $10 instead of the long-run $1000. The story as we have spelled out has a much better long-view. The story as it likely will play out has the instant payoff.

Yeah I definitely hear ya. I just feel what they are going for is too risky. This will generate buzz and speculation but it's gonna also get lots of backlash and a leaked death eventually. I have a normal hatred of this idea. There are true diehards that resort to harassment of those involved lol.

I LOVE cliffhangers. Shows need them. But not for the sake of giving the audience the finger. I like them to tease the new direction.

I mean we're looking at 8(very good) episodes this spring. We've gotten 1 death. A C character with no development. Which really hurts the overall product now.

I'd hate this idea either way, but if we had gotten a few more deaths(not even major characters) I'd be more bearable as it would seem like the story has progressed a little more naturally.

Sigh...I have to agree with calsnowskier's POV, as much as I hate it. The AMC honchos are looking for the bucks and they really can't be faulted for that.

But I hate it. It is cynical and condescending towards the loyal fan base. But that's Show Biz, folks!

The way they are doing their "cliffhangers" probably wouldn't bother me as much if they didn't have two season finales a year. However, that's another money maker. Gimple has a lot of Stan Lee in him.

In any event, it's still a pretty damn compelling storyline...especially this season. ;)

Would be pretty funny to have a cliffhanger this season then next season it is revealed that Rosita had her brains bashed in. The last real shocking death we've had was Beth wasn't it? Since then they've just been killing off B-listers or the easy choices.

Another reason I think the cliffhanger sucks. It increases the odds of them killing of someone like fucking Aaron exponentially.

"Hey Norman, you've been on the show since S1 and you are really busy with movies lately but would you mind coming back to Georgia to film a 2 minute scene of your brains getting bashed in?". Yeah not fucking happening.

I find it hard to believe they even do it to Glenn.

Just read that Norman watched the season finally and was left speechless for about an hr. I have been reading the cast was in shock and take back by the ending. Norman saying it is the most brutal episode and possible the best episode they have ever shot. I'm sticking to my thoughts on who it is. Some interesting comments in the comment sections too....I'll post the link in Spoilers for those who want to read it...Also hearing it's a cliffhanger. He swings the bat, but no clue who it hits...

Yeah every cast member is saying stuff. That's what they are paid to do. And since the cliffhanger leak the "interviews" have been coming out in droves.

Lincoln was "late to work".

They are all pathological liars if what we hear is true.

Like I have been saying. This is the epic moment of the entire series. Good or bad, the show is downhill from here.

Let's just hope the peak point of the series is worth it.
