Game Thread: Penguins GNT/GDT week 23 (Mar 7 - Mar 13)

This week's schedule...

3 divisional rivals.

I think we're in pretty good shape for the wildcard right now,

I see the Flyers as the only team that could knock us out of the wildcard right now. We lead them by 5 points, but they have a game on hand.

That's a solid week of play...took down the King and blasted the Dev's...makes me happy!

Lots of Metro to play and this team is way to up/down for me to be as positive about the playoffs

We'll see how he looks over a long stretch, but Schutlz's game played really well in the Pens' system yesterday. I thought his instincts offensively were pretty good.

And Geno played a great game yesterday after playing maybe his worst of the season against Calgary the day before. That guy turns things on awfully suddenly.

Those games will be huge, but at least we beat them last time which is something we couldn't seem to do under Mike Johnston.

I have to admit I don't know how Philly is doing it. They lost their TOI leader in Del Zotto, and now 38 year old Mark Streit and Andrew McDonald are shouldering the load on their blue-line. They're 7-2-1 in their last 10.

Outside of their rookie Gostisbehere, that blue-line roster is a joke, but they keep winning. And people complain about the supposed lack of ability amongst the Pens defensemen .

Don't worry, scouty, we would actually be better off missing the playoffs IMO. Doubt if we could beat the Lightning or Capitals in a best of 7 series. Would honestly rather have a good 1st round draft pick.

Looks like they beat the Blue Jackets. I haven't been able to see them play the past week or so, been out of the country and the games are on at like 4am my time. If I could get wifi on the flight back, I'm hoping to see the Rangers game

Big game today at MSG. Flyers lost last night, so their game in hand is negated until the outcome of this one against the Rags is decided. Pens are in a tough, but familar spot. Dealing with injuries to stars down the stretch is nothing they haven't had to deal with in the past.

I can't see them finishing the season strong enough to make the playoffs...Geno's injury just solidifies my opinion

Good game today! What's the story on Geno? Out 6-8 weeks leads me to believe it's a fracture or a sprain...which can take as long or longer to heal than a break.

Sucks to hear about Geno's injury, but Conor Sheary has been putting up good numbers as of late. I see some potential in that kid. Reminds me a lot of Mats Zuccarello.

Someone should show this to Dan Byslma and tell him that's why you play the young kids all winter, because come spring time they might just go do this for ya.

That was a sweet goal and great to see the Pens streaking toward the goal behind the other team's defense for a change.

I disagree. The young 'ens are playing pretty well right now and that should carry them into the playoffs. However, if Geno misses any playoff time then I can't see them winning a series without him in the lineup.
