Also, since Breed apparently doesnt understand basic football, Marshall and Decker in no way compensate for the lack of tight end in the Jets system. For starters, Fitzpatrick tends to look off his primary wr too quickly, and makes his mistakes often by throwing over the middle to whom? Subpar TE's. Secondly, without a pass catching threat as a TE, the Jets were forced to run 3 wr sets to create room for Ivory, who admittedly, can be hard to bring down.
Finally, as the year went on, the oline, wore down. So did Revis. The team's a mess, and dorsnt have a lot of cap space to fix the overspending ftom last year: Skrine, Giacomini.

I live in NY. Stick to things you know, Breed.

Actually the Jets have more cap space than we do at present, and likely a bit more wiggle room on redoing some of the deals for players they know they are not at risk of cutting.

But that is neither here nor there. If Cousins is allowed to hit the free agent market, some one will likely beat us to the punch. My bet would be the Texans who DO have twice the cap space we have. And I get the feeling some one is making the arguement that we shouldnt release Griffin until Cousins is signed long term. As the deal would need to be done by the 9th and Griffin has to be released by that date in order to avoid the $16 million dollar cap hit.... its a big game of Chicken. Sadly the Skins are on a 50cc scooter trying to stare down a 74 coupe de'ville.

Jets were 10-6 which is significantly better than 8-8. Have to side with Breed there. 2 wins in a 16 game schedule is quite a bit.

Understand the paranoia but I think that you are way off base. It sounds like you are suggesting that Snyder will enter the mix & make a play to retain RG3. It that played out & doesn't succeed (likely) then you can bet that there is a major chance that the Redskins lose their GM & a good chunk of their fan base. Snyder may be a meddler, but he is not that stupid.

Relax - they will sign Cousins one way or the other. We live in an age where everyone wants everything done ASAP. This negotiation was not supposed to take a few days or a week so it is laughable that many fans are freaking out at this time over this situation. Give it a little time.

rock and a hard place choice is where the Redskins are at. But Y'all have a choice unlike our Philthy rivals. They are just hosed via Chip Kelly now in SanFran ready to take the 49'ers to the NFL basement however short the ride is before he limps back to college football. But I digress.

No way he hits FA
Franchise Tag is the hammer both sides hold. Skins can use it so KC cant leave BUT KC gets 20 mil for next season if the don't sign him long term.

The deal will get done with Cousins one way or another the $$$ is the only issue on the contract. Performance is the stumbling block not enough to believe KC is worth the money yet enough to see the potential.

Time for the Front office and KC's Agent to get creative and make a deal both sides can be happy with.

The art of a good deal is when both sides walk away happy and smiling.

Skins went 9-7. Jets were one game better, not too. And Breed didnt refute any of my points because he's a blowhard. Just the facts, inbreedybreed.

Although Dale spent time with his Dad, I believe his Mom lived in Tidewater area. That is Redskin country.

My bad on the Redskins record. Good lord we were better than I thought. Give Cousins $30 million. I'll let you and Breed have a duel on the rest of the business.

The 10-6 team is a mess? They have talent on both sides of the ball. With very meh QB play they were a better team than us. If they're a mess, we're a mess.

Sharkinva is incorrect. The Jets have two less players signed than the Redskins have, with less than a million more in cap space, and the same amount of dead money.

NFL Salary Cap Space | Over The Cap

You can find many many articles describing ghe Jets unique cap space predicament, but here are a few for your reading pleasure.

How can Jets best manage 2016 salary cap? We asked an expert

EDIT: eh, the Jets area mess due to the amount of work they need to do, and the limited cap space they have to do it. They have a lot of free agents, no qb, both rb's are free agents, made mistakes in free agency, and have virtually the same amount of space that we have.

No need to duel with that clown, just no reason to let him disparage my comments either. I'm good.

Wow - didn't realize that there were so many "glass is half full" folks on this site. Sure - the Redskins could use help (like just @ every team), but they are in competent hands & have potential to grow and get better every year for the next 3-4 years. When was the last time that we could honestly say that?

Hey I agree with you, I think we're in good hands with Scott. But I understand the doubt too. A lot of us thought we were finally in good hands with Shanahan.

Keep in mind that there were critics from the get-go about Shanahan wearing two hats as a coach and GM, which properly noted that there hadn't been (and never has been) someone who could do both competently. There were also questions about his selection of Haslett as d-coor and whether he could win without Elway.

Disagree with all of those positions being positions of need for the redskins (specifically OL and probably CB depending on what the redskins do with Culliver).

Also, I'm not sure what the Redskins needs or perceived needs have to do with the Jets needs, salary cap issues, or the status of their free agents.

The difference between the two teams is that Fitzpatrick is not good, Wilkerson is quite good, Harrison is pretty good (starter on DL), Ivory and Powell are also free agents, as is Calvin Pace and Demarrio Davis. That's their starting DE, DT, #1 rb, #2 rb, qb, ILB, and OLB.
2016 NFL Free Agents Tracker

That's a lot to resign with the same money the redskins have.

Desired outcome.. .Cousins is signed to a long term deal

Some what acceptable outcome.. .Cousins is tagged, and then at some point signs a long term deal.

The only way to fuck this p is to tag him and then not be able to sign him long term

The only way to REALLY fuck this up is to not sign him at all.

My question (someone please enlighten me) is what is the point of tagging him now and then working out a long term contract before we see what he has got through camp, and possibly a portion of next season? Obviously each sides magic numbers or conditions are not very close. If KC and his agent are not willing to budge because of what they feel his worth is and same goes for the FO... Why not let it all ($$$$) work itself out on the field???
