Ummm, sorry, but you're wrong. Ever hear of Las Vegas? Atlantic City? Foxwoods CASINO? It isn't illegal, our country just tells us when and where we can do it. Michigan has casino's, Mississippi has them. In fact, 25 states have them!! This all bullshit PERIOD!!!

Most of the places you are talking about are not "in" our country b/c they are Native American territories not governed by our country's laws.

In casinos, they card you... how do they keep 10 yr olds off the money gambling sites?

that problem is solved easy .. its called being a good resposable parent and supervising your children and not putting the raising of those children on someone else ... the most important letters in the alphabet that any responsable parent should know is N&O .. as in NO you dont get to do that your too young .. :yo:

So 10 Y/O kids have credit cards or can do wire transfers from their checking account? As far as I'm concerned, that's their parents problem, not mine. People in other fields of work are allowed to do their profession online, poker players should be able to also. The US government could have made this legal and regulated it years ago, that's a fact.

Im sorry I messed up and forgot people arnt alowed to be responsable for their own actions anymore

No, it's not that, it's that your response had nothing to do with the question.

It's like someone asking a question about airport security and you saying we should trust people to govern themselves and not bring bombs or guns on the plane. Or someone saying bars shouldn't card people, we should trust kids are never going to try to get a drink before they turn 21.

It's related to the subject, but it doesn't answer the question.

Here's a site that list the states with casino's and where they are in the state so you can see exactly how many non native American casino's there are. And you seem to want to argue with me just to piss me off when I'm already mad a hell, so FUCK OFF!!!!

Ooookay then. I was just trying to have a debate. My comments were all calm and rationale. Sorry you are so upset.

so what your saying then is that a responciable parent of a 10 year old would alow that child to gamble on an online casino .. or do we just need another stupid law made so it takes the whole resposability thing out of the parents hands..

It seems you don't know the whole story. People were playing online for years. After Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP main event, the American casino's complained that they weren't allowed to have online sites and all the American players were playing on sites from foreign countries. They were even on 60 minutes. The US, instead of legalizing online gambling, created a new law banning it saying that if any American players had issues with the poker sites, the US government could help them because or jurisdiction. The poker sites only did what they did so they could give any American player their money if and when they wanted to cash out. This whole thing could have been avoided by legalizing internet gambling and the TAXING the profits made by it's players just like when winning at a casino. Other businesses are allowed to operate online like trading stocks, realty, banking, sales, why can't professional poker players earn their living online? The US created this problem, and thus created the crimes when it all could have been avoided years ago and millions, if not billions gained in tax revenue.

I actually heard that casinos and card rooms lobbied against making online poker illegal because online poker created so many new players that would in turn go to casinos.

I do understand your frustration though. The Conservative/libertarian side of me is not a huge fan of the government telling people what they can and can not do with their time and money.

You're 100% right, and I would not waste my time arguing with the dipshits that are just trying to push your buttons.

"how do you keep your 10 year old from gambling online?"

Like you said how many 10 year olds have credit cards? Not to mention 90% of the credit cards wont even let you wire money to online gambling sites so I would assume that 10 year old needs multiple cards and pray one of them works.

Either way who cares? If we're going to ban shit online because of 10 year olds I guess internet **** shouldve been long gone. Either way your kids your problem.

I think its more of a classic example of a government run entity functioning worse than a private run entity- because the private entities have to engage in competition.

Listen I am probably on yours and Beantowns side of this argument here, but I certainly wouldn't call Eloco a dipshit. He has been the most rational voice in this debate and has made some good points.

...where the federal gov't does not have jurisdiction. Online gambling is illegal under the 1961 Wire Act, though since the Internet didn't exist at that time, they have added further legislation in recent years to bolster it. More specifically, the legislation...

And I have to say if I'm doing this to "push buttons," I am the most boring button pusher in the history of the world. :)

I'm pretty sure I'm correct. I mean, why would casino's not want new players, right? The American casino's want online gambling legalized so they can get in on the action. There's billions of dollars out there so you can understand why they want in. Internet gambling is legal in most countries and US casino's would like some of that action also.
