Repurposing Trent Murphy and Spencer Long

so let me get this straight one guy isnt good enough to be on the field enough to accumulate stats on a 4-12 football team but the other guy is on the field enough for a 9-7 team sucks

if he was good enough he would have been on the field dean . both had injuries and 8 sacks vs 6 sacks really isnt a huge edge

you cant compare the numbers b/c Murphy has played way more games. The apss rushers and sack guys go higher in the draft. gk the Broncos can take the best pass rusher on the board b/c they are in the running for a super bowl not us. Plus there team is loaded so they can do basically whatever they want in the draft.

So it is OK for a good team, like the Broncos, to build a team the correct way...but bad teams should be stupid?

I wasn't comparing numbers....that is what you did. You seem to think numbers are all that matters but fail to see there is more to the position than going after the QB.

The Broncos can take more chances than us b/c they have better players on their team. Plus when it comes to Shane Ray who is a pass rusher it made sense b/c Ware is getting old. Are you actually comparing the Broncos talent to ours? Attahcou has been more productive in less time than Murphy.

I am comparing the right way to do things...period. Denver could have used OL big time instead of Shane Ray but they went BPA. Ware is getting old but he was playing like an MVP before his injury this season. He has at least another good year left. Good teams draft BPA...this guarantees them the best chances of success at getting good players.

You say Attachou was more productive which isn't entirely true. He put up better sack statistics...that is true. Now ask yourself...why didn't Attachou start from game 1 this season and why was he inactive so many games in his career? He wasn't the original starter on a team that gave up more points and had fewer sacks than our team.

Well, he didn't start four games this season...but he played in them. They were not consecutive games he didn't start but was healthy enough to play. Interesting for such a great player.

It amazes me how posters seem to accept and defend players who just haven't shown to be that good. When our team becomes a contender I do not expect Trent Murphy or Spencer Long to be playing prominant roles. I'm not going to apologize for wanting better players than these guys.

no one said you had to however they are what we line up with now and i am sure they are good depth at the worst

Who doesn't want better players? Do you think all players have met their peak by the end of year two or just these two?

No I do not think they have peaked but I think by now we have a pretty good idea who they are. As Dad said they are good depth guys which was my reason for not trading Murphy. It just seems like we have spent a lot of time talking about depth guys who won't be big factors going forward in my opinion.
