Bills S Bacarri Rambo has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10.

Rambo played just 17 defensive snaps last Thursday night against the Jets, but made a huge impact on them, forcing three turnovers. He sealed the win with a late-game interception of Ryan Fitzpatrick and forced two fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown by S Duke Williams on special teams. Rambo recovered the other fumble himself. It was easily the best game of his three-year career as a former sixth-round pick of the Redskins

I hate seeing former Skins players do well. We just never seem to cultivate any talent.

Congrats to Rambo for having a good game. Playing "just 17 plays" tells you although he might have been successful this week he is not succeeding in a big way. If he was killing it he would be playing a lot more.

This would have been true a few years ago, but the team now has a totally different FO. They will likely improve in two major related areas - acquiring good young talent in the first place & developing that talent once they are on the team.

You are already seeing major strides in this area for this team. Consider the O line. Over the recent past this was one of the worst areas of this team, but now actually appears to be a strength & - gasp - actually even has depth. This is due both to good pickups by SM and having someone like Callahan to develop these guys. I totally expect to see similar results for all areas of this team over the next several years. Pretty impressive.

Kind of indicative of the Bills. Their defense will be lights out at times & then look horrible in other games. Hopefully they are more like the latter when they play the Redskins.

I hate to admit it but I feel the same way.

Maybe I am missing something or am uniformed. Please tell me all of these former Redskins players who are tearing it up elsewhere in the NFL. For starters you have Rambo but lets be honest - just about everyone here was ready to run the guy out town when he was in DC & as mentioned above he really doesn't contribute that much to the Bills. Then you have Hankerson who was kind of a victim of the numbers game. You may also have the oddball lineman but that is the norm with most teams in the ever changing NFL.

Also - as I previously mentioned - they will do a better job of player development by having better positional coaches & in finding the rt players in the first place. I have no real worries in this area.

BTW - please don't bring up players like Amerson or Chester. They were players who never should have been in DC in the first place & thankfully are playing somewhere else. The key with those type of guys is selecting someone else initially via the draft or free agency & I am pretty sure that SM will shine in this area.

Not many that I can think of either. But I was talking in general terms, why would I want a player we got rid of to turn into a good player for someone else? Hell I'm still bitter we cut David Akers as we watched our team trot out dozens of shitty kickers.

In related news Rak now has 7 sacks on the year, our top guy Baker has 4 and our "pass rusher" Kerrigan has 3.5. I will cointinue to say it, I completely understand why the team let him walk but he got entirely too much hate from the fanbase. They treated him like a bust when he was a damn good player. Sure he got hurt at the end but the hate started way before that.

I don't agree that it was hate he was getting, more just disappointment. He came into the league with all of the skill sets a premier pass rushers needs. While he has a couple of good years here, he was never elite and after suffering from multiple pec tears, it was reasonable to believe that these tears could be an ongoing problem. In fact, it still is reasonable. I think most of us were okay with re signing him, just not at the elite level. But we also had accepted that he was probably going to get a better deal on the open market so we knew he was leaving. Would I want him on my team again? Absolutely, but I still wouldn't sign him at the level Tenn. did.

Yeah we've had this discussion before and I don't want to take over the thread. But trust me the talk here near DC and on the radio made it pretty clear: good riddance, he was never that good. IMO that label applied to Lavar Arrington, it didn't really apply to Rak so much.

Ah - there's your mistake. The folks on talk radio - both behind the microphone & the ones who call in are not generally the ones with the brightest takes on things. This is true in DC and pretty much everywhere. I don't live in the DC area but have heard these folks both when I travel there and on the web. It is a shame that we don't pay more attention to the objective, calm opinions from guys like Louis Riddick who provide very good takes on situations such as these.

No mistake here. As I said the fan base felt a certain way. And yes radio callers are part of the fan base, a group passionate enough to listen and participate in sports talk on the radio.

You may not agree with their opinion, obviously I don't either, but that isn't the point. As I said the feeling among the fans, as measured by message boards, radio shows, stops at the water cooler etc was pretty clear: Rak ain't that good and easily replaced. Because you think radio callers aren't smart doesn't change my point, they are the fans and this is how they felt.

Correction - they are some of the fans. In no way do they represent the majority of the fanbase - just like we don't represent the majority of the fans. I am guessing that a lot of these folks still want to fire Gruden, maybe dump Cousins, sign the next big thing, etc. It perhaps makes for entertaining radio but not much else.

So they didn't like Orakpo - big deal. I believe that the reasonable opinion on this one is like jy stated - most of us would have been fine if he signed for a lesser deal but not for the one he agreed to with the Titans. Get used to it - you are going to see more moves like this from the SM regime. The older vets will be replaced by some younger guys in several cases - it is what most effective organizations do - sometimes it works & sometimes it does not but in the long term it is a good strategy.

i could not have phrased it better. Rak would've tied up the cap and made it difficult on the skins to make moves if necessary.

Oh don't get me wrong, as I said I was fine with him not being signed. And I agree with you that this is SM"s MO and I'm fine with it. But let's not pretend he didn't leave a big hole as many of the fans I have heard speak on the matter said wouldn't happen. He has nearly as many sacks as our top 2 guys combined.

The year before he had 0.5 sacks. If Gallete was healthy and playing for $1 million dollars it would be a mute point. Kerrigan is never going to make an excuse but I don't think he ever fully recovered from the knee surgery. He didn't play a down in the pre-season.

if you support the GM then live with the decisions he makes. He could be the best GM here since Bethard.
