Throws may have been available downfield but what number in the progression are those throws?

This is a guy that still isn't comfortable in his job and is doing exactly what he thinks a coach would want. Ask most QBs if they would rather throw a 40 yard bomb to a guy partially open or a 5 yard check to a guy that is open but won't make the first...every single one would say the 40 yarder...now ask that same guy if he is willing to lose his job if the short pass comes first in the scheme. He doesn't have the luxury of a guy like Brady and Manning...meaning...go ahead and bench me if you don't like me taking a shot.

He detailed two throws in the 4th quarter and said he didn't miss any deep throws the first three quarters. :noidea:

No doubt. If he's got anything left, it's a good pick up.

well he is 30 so he isnt on the ascension however he still could be a productive stopgap for now

Begs the question that the QB has to be able to take advantage as well

Not sure if you posted it or not but I did see Manny was noticing that Cousins basically isnt reading the defense post snap. Hes presnap determining his throws which is why he both gets the ball out quickly and seems to miss guys coming open downfield for big plays.

Add in the loss of Lauvao in week 2 and the switch with Long

Yeah, both he, Mark Bullock and Cooley all noted a select few plays in the later part of the game (think it was all 4th quarter) where he chose the safer check down then a relatively safe and better (according to them) play downfield.

Who detailed it? Unless it was KC, JG, or McVay...how do they know?

I mostly agree. When Cooley first got his gig it was cool hearing his breakdown. Now I sort of think players like him, Doc Walker, Brian Mitchell etc. are lucky they didn't have people critiquing them in the same way during their careers. I guess that is today's media though. In the end no one knows what Gruden, McVay and Cousins know. All the rest including me are giving opinions and not facts.

That's just it. We can say all we want he missed this guy or that guy but we don't know the progression and neither does Cooley. I find it hard to believe that KC would pass up a 30 yard throw to complete a 5 yard throw. In time, based off presnap reads, KC may start passing up his progressions based on defensive formations but he won't do that until he feels his job is safe.

I forget which media person mentioned it, but Cousins is still looking over his shoulder and its is affecting his play. Until he doesnt have a reasons to be looking over his shoulder, I think we will continue to see reserved play from Cousins.

Every player in the NFL is looking over his shoulder. No job is safe. Given the other options on this team Kirk's job is more secure than most marginal QBs around the league. I don't see that as a reason. Sure he's aware of his turnover problem and there should be no doubt he is playing a bit timid as a result of that but this has nothing to do with who is on the bench behind him.

Not even close to true. Blake Bortles job is not even in jeopardy. RG3 is still on this team and everybody knows what was given up. RG3 was not in jeopardy of losing his job until year 3.
