Ugly win for the hitters, beautiful win for the pitchers, but all around a solid and much-needed win for the team. Let's win the series tomorrow and either pull within 1 of Houston or put more of a gap between us and Minnesota for the WC.

I still think the division is ours to lose.

Getting the K of Trout after falling behind 3-1 was really big for Tolleson to start the 9th. He had the right umpire for his location otherwise he walks.

Its not like he isn't at the dang ballpark every night, and he's seen plenty of baseball over the years. How can he be so bad?
His years of hardcore boozing have done more damage to his brain cells than his liver, I'm afraid.

That ump was giving up the corners, like a bunch of retired hookers!

Tolley was good and fortunate!

The OU game was not televised here. I am sure jta is feeling pretty good as well.

It was on pay per view. It's bull shit. I got some good tickets at a decent price and decided to go.

Pretty good day all around for sure. But my Vols looked poor on the D-side. Doesn't bode well for week 2.

I had a tread up for us on college football yesterday and now I can't even find it. :noidea:

Glad you could go. If you were watching the Rangers game you would have been blowing a gasket. Trust me I know. Because I was.

I don't think I can take another promising CF that flames out for Texas...Please be good Lew...PLEAAAASE.
Wow. That was some kind of HR. Each move to a higher level so far is not swallowing this guy up at all.

Starting with last nights game we have a chance to really distance ourselves from the Angels and possibly the Twins if KC does its job. We face Santiago today. Then we miss Iwakuma against Seattle and when we face King Felix our stud Holland pitches in the mean time the Angels face Greinke, Kershaw and Latos. The Twins face KC. Houston is at Oakland so not sure about that.

From DMN story:
As had been the case in the first four games of what will be a 10-game road trip, the Rangers struggled to produce hits with runners in scoring position. The Rangers entered the game 2 for 33 with RISP in the first four games, but managed to go 2-2 in those games. They were 1 for 8 Saturday. Adrian Beltre’s run-scoring single in the first was the lone RISP hit.

Beltre entered the game 0 for 6 on the road trip — including a rally-killing double play in the first inning of Friday’s series opener — and hitting just .222 with RISP in the second half. Fielder is 0 for 5 on the trip; at .205 for the second half.

More early morning reading.
TRIPLE-A ROUND ROCK (77-65) got a home run from LF Lewis Brinson in the first inning of a 4-3 win against Iowa (Chicago Cubs.) Brinson, 21, has homered in the High-A California, Double-A Texas and Triple-A Pacific Coast leagues this season. He has 20 homers in 388 at-bats overall.

Brinson, the 29th overall pick in the 2012 draft, is hitting .400 with a .556 on-base percentage for 27 plate appearances in the PCL.

This is more than alarming. If we don't get better at this, immediately, we won't stay in the chase.

I sure hope we're watching and listening to Holland re: his pitch count. That's a lot of throws over his last 2 outings.

I agree on the RISP thing. It is one of those things that just gets in a teams head. On the Holland issue even though he has a fresh arm he is coming off shoulder surgery and I would not want any stress to cause a problem there. But man has he been a shot in the arm. Our best pitcher right now.
