What do we lose besides depth? Last year he didn't make game day roster most weeks and only did due to injuries.

Doubt he gets cut though. Again, he's only here still due to draft position.

Elliott Shore-Parks, NJ.com, thinks that Smith may get cut. He's out now, and who knows if he can play the OLB position? I don't think they'd cut him, but may trade him for a late round pick.

I think we're too thin at LB to cut him.

By your logic, Trotter should have been gone after the 1998 season - drafted 3rd round, plaid in only 8 games, and had only 3 tackles. He was a bum, as we all know.

3rd rounder vs 1st rounder who can't make the game day roster...Nah, completely different. My expectations for a 1st rounder is usually starting week one and if not at least contributing week in and week out. Not so for a 3rd rounder.
