Heck yea, he needs a good quarter. A half next game. Three quarters 3rd game. Cousins needs to come in 2nd and third quarters Thursday night.

Not enough. He needs as many reps as he can get. He should play at least a half. The right side of our OL also needs the reps.

fear of injury would be my guess
I guess. I get the concern. If a Trent Williams was lost for the year in the preseason playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers, gruden would be tarred and feathered. And there is little chance that RG3 plays without TW protecting him. But this offense still needs the reps. I think you have to take the risk, especially if Robert looks shaky in the first couple series.

And rightfully so. TWill is proven w/o question. Going into his fourth year and there's more questions about Griffin than ever it seems. Will he stop moving directly into pressure? Will he take a 5 step drop-back when the play calls for a 3 step drop-back? Can he slide? No, seriously, can he slide?

And imo the vast majority of the play calls for Griffin should be pass plays regardless of score or in game situation.

Considering that it was decided in February that he was going to be the starter, from a logistics stand point the amount of time he plays matters squat. He could come out and go 0-10 with 7 INTs and he will be the starter when the season rolls around. And my bet would be Gruden is going to cal la safe game plan designed to build his confidence in any case. He was close to 70% last preseason.

Agree. On the flip side either RG3 or Cousins looking good in preseason also means just about nothing. I have seen this movie way too many times. Fans got excited when RG3, Cousins, Grossman, Campbell, Brennan, etc ,etc did well. A lot of success apparently occurred since it appeared that the Redskins put more stock in preseason games than other teams.

Sure the different QBs need reps with the team, but I believe that is overstated, and I have no problem if takes several regular season games for this team to gel since the goals for this team should be more long term.

I totally agree that long term is what this team should be focused on at the moment. I dont how ever believe that naming a starter in February when all your QBs have questions is the best call. This basically goes back to one of the biggest problems we have had with Griffin, he has never had to actually PROVE he should be the starter. And granted, he may actually be the best option we have out of a paltry bunch of QBs. But based on his performance the last two years, he should have to actually earn every rep. Much as Cousins or McCoy should have to earn it as well. And i think the real problem here is, when you say its his job to lose, you are basically saying the only way the other Qbs get a shot is if Griffin performs so horrid that they have no choice but to look else where.

I agree with a lot of that. However - reality will sometimes not allow things to work in what is perceived as fair. Also - we don't really know the real situation. It could be that RG3 is on a short leash if he fails at the beginning of the season. In past seasons this would have really irked me. However - at this time I am not really worried about the situation.

I will assume the worst & that none of the present QBs will lead this team in future years. However - during that time I am very confident that the rest of the team will improve substantially. If either RG3 or Cousins does improved significantly it will only be gravy. I only hope that I am not let down like in previous seasons - time will tell.

He should play 4 quarters

He either gets hurt, or gets better

Win/Win for the Skins

This is really disappointing. I can't understand the reasoning here at all.

Soooooo, Niles with a shoulder, Jordan with a hammy and Logan with a toe that might require surgery...
