This would be great for both teams.

What's more it would probably be good for Mariota. Unless I'm completely wrong I think the Chargers' ol is at least mediocre and would give him a fighting chance of staying healthy long enough to learn what he needs to to be a quality QB in the NFL.

"NBC's Alex Flanagan tweeted Saturday that she's been talking to "more and more people" who believe rumors of Philip Rivers being traded by the Chargers "have legitimate legs."

As Flanagan noted, the Titans "need Rivers," in order for beleaguered GM Ruston Webster and coach Ken Whisenhunt to save their jobs. The Chargers would be a good fit for Marcus Mariota, going to a coach in Mike McCoy who's repeatedly shown the ability to craft his offense to maximize his quarterback's strengths. Any deal of Rivers to Tennessee would likely require a long-term agreement between the team and Rivers. The Titans would have to have that assurance from Rivers' camp before executing the trade. Rivers is entering the final year of his contract.

Interesting. I think if Tenn can get Rivers, SD # 1 + whatever other picks Tenn has to make that deal?

I think that makes the most sense of any #2 trade I've heard. Rivers in Tennessee is a perfect fit given the presence of Whisenhunt and the fact Rivers grew up not far from there.

Somewhere Toonis is crumpled up in a corner sobbing into his Rivers' jammies

Interesting. I think if Tenn can get Rivers, SD # 1 + whatever other picks Tenn has to make that deal?

Absolutely. Rivers will do damage with Walker/Wright and they could nab Humphries/Collins for some interior line support or even Melvin Gordon if they're not happy with Sankey. The run blocking in Tennessee is far better than San Diego (2014 PFF Offensive Line Rankings | ProFootballFocus.com so that would help alleviate some pressure from Rivers who had zero running game last year. If they don't feel confident with Sankey and go line they could snag Yeldon in the 2nd.

Frankly I like them going: Rivers, Gordon, J. Fisher (Roos retirement), and Eric Rowe (might have to slightly trade into the 2nd, but use the extra picks San Diego will give you anyway).

Would be VERY hard not to get excited as a Titans fan considering the cupcake division in the current state. Andrew Luck had a freebie for the past few years. Rivers will be 34 at the end of the season so he still has another 4 or so years left in him. You don't even need to start thinking about grooming 'your guy' for another 2 seasons.

So if your McCoy do you just resign? Cause they go from playoff team 2 years ago to a 9 win team on the cusp of the playoffs last year, to having a rookie qb this year, almost guaranteed to win less then 9 games....which most likely gets you canned.

I think Tenn is holding all the cards. I'm more excited about their draft then the Pats. Well at least till the end of the 1st round.

What are the rest of the odds though? That's a really meaningless number without any other context.
