Think it's more about depth behind AM. He's not a 3rd down guy and has had some fumbling issues as well as coming off an ACL/mCL.

Anyone know if he's a good blocker?

I guess if he's on a 1 yr prove it deal on the cheap, why not?

At first glance I'd pass. I like Redd Jr and if they really want to go that route I'd rather see them pick up a young back from the draft.

That was my first take. Then I thought about competition and depth. And I don't think it would necessarily stop them from drafting a RB in later rounds.

This makes no sense to me. Ridley cant catch and is coming of an acl. So many backs in the draft no need to sign a veteran back who is hurt. I don't get it.

If its cheap though we could get production from him as a backup and not need to spend a pick on a RB. Not a bad thing. Especially with the talk of a RB in the 2nd round, we could then use that on OL or OLB etc.

Maybe I can help Dean, Remember the pledge to go to a power rushing attack? Well, if you consider Morris' stature, he could very well be lacking the size and strenght that fits into SM nor Bill Calahan's vision of what the team requires. Hence a bigger back is invited for a visit. We all know that Ammo is really good in the zone blocking scheme, but can he carry the load as a power back? Right now, it's just a look.....see, but I am convinced that there is a plan and everyone is on board with that plan. The evaluations have been done and fortunately or unfortunately for fans of certain players, if a particular favorite no longer fits into that plan, he's history.

I've brought this up before in other threads and well.............

Thats why I would love Jay Ajayi with our 2nd rounder fits everything we need in a runningback

I like Ajayi too. He can be a franchise back. Morris is a FA next year and is going to want to get paid. If he has a decent season this year he is going to want 5-6 mil per season. For a 2 down back. I don't think so.

Just curious guys......Let's say that the team does indeed Draft Ajayi and he comes in and leaves everyone gushing over his skills and he wins the starting job. What do you do with Morris?

IM still wondering... if we are supposed to take a pass rusher in the first round, and now a RB in the second round... exactly when are we supposed to find a starter for the O-line. Or are we supposed to band aid the position yet again and then make excuses for why it wasnt the Qbs fault when the offense sucks again??

Or have we resigned ourselves to the Cardale Jones hunt in 2016??

Shark if you've noticed, I have not objected to your suggestion that the team takes Scherff at 5 mainly because he is projected to more than adequately fill a void for the next 5 to 10 year but also because outside of Williams or the trade chip Mariotta falling to us, he fits our most glaring need best.
That said, this guy Ajayi with the second pick because of his skillset, makes both our QB and OLine play better. When was the last time that we've had a player in the backfield who could make that claim?
