Of the five you mentioned four of them are considered starters. And Hall depending on health would make a 5th starter. I realize we are in a rebuild. But the question with any of these cuts is, do you find a replacement for what you save, or are you just swallowing dead money in an attempt to say you did something??

I totally agree Chester needs to go.

Hall, depending on if he can be healthy or not.

We only save $1 million for cutting Levaou, so the real question becomes can you even find a decent backup at his position for the $1 million you would get for cutting him. Thus its not a savings to cut him, but an extra cost.

Coefield and Bowen..... Both will depend on the draft and FA. If you cant find a starter who is just as good or better for LESS than what you "saved" by cutting them.. again its a net loss. Meaning, if we save $4 million by cutting Coefield, how much OVER that $4 million does it cost to get the same level of production?? Now if we cut them and ACTUALLY bring in upgrades Im all for it. But just like last year when we cut our starting center and brought in Lavaou, did that really "save" us anything??

Hall is coming of two Achilless injuries. I think he is done. If we sign Ordrick and draft Shelton then Bowen and Coefiled with be gone. I thought Lenvou would save us 3 million. My point is all these guys are past there prime, I think we can get younger players for cheaper money and decent talent.

Actually we are $13.7 million under the cap at the moment. And yes the $21 million extra looks nice on the front end. And i agree Hall is likely done. I simply dont think we get a decent backup much less a starting Guard for $1 million. My point being if we "save" $21 million only to spend $35 million to replace the players we cut and dont get a SERIOUS production increase... to me its a net loss.

Also just as a refresher, if we cut the five players you mention, it actually puts us at $28.5 million in cap space. Now we could make 4 of the 5 june first cuts and that would give us 433.5 million in cap space, but would also drop $6 million in dead money onto the books for 2016. And considering that We will likely be in the market for a QB among other things in 2016.... not sure this is a prudent course.

i have no issues with the cuts because those guys arent giving us what we are paying for

lavou we could keep since he will be playing in a system he is better suited for

i think we will draft a few replacements and i bet long can step in for chester
